I was wondering...

I would like this article to point out, that the McNair reference is "for that book only" and has several omissions – not because its not Political communications, but because its not addressed in the book.

It’s a good definition, but its related to that work only…

How do I go about that?

Social Media section: I plan to update and edit the section on social media and highlight the relationship between different social medias and political communication. I have compiled a list of academic sources which I will now use to form this section and how social media has widely impacted things such as elections; something mentioned in the above section of the article under fields of study. Also, I think it is important to highlight different models relevant to political communication and this could be a new section.

I am a student learning how to use Wikipedia and am wondering if there should be updates made to this page in regards to how political communication has changed during the time of COVID-19? — Bkw00 (talk) 00:08, 28 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Changing the section on social media

[edit]

I am going to go ahead and change the section on social media which means deleting some previous work and expanding. I will only be deleting what I find is not necessarily the most relevant to social media in terms of political communication and works with incorrect referencing.212.123.251.134 (talk) 00:48, 13 May 2019 (UTC)sito2402[reply]

I am a student learning to use Wikipedia and agree that the social media section must be kept current. How do you Wikipedia users maintain edits on articles like this one that are constantly able to be updated with regards to current events and politics?Lmlaux (talk) 03:17, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I think there is also a way to make sure that the section includes more information on the impact of social media within political communication and maybe move down the example of the Australian population, couldn't we argue that be the digital divide is also something that is happening in the US as well? Suggested change list

[edit]

Large scale changes are required to this article from previous base work done by students that setup the original project. As noted by previous editors, the article has some good structural bones, but due to the student nature of it, reads like a student essay in a non impartial, non-encyclopaedic manner.

Completed tasks:

-Whole article's grammar has had initial corrections

-History section was reshaped and added to, is much more fleshed out now

-Key areas of study added to, with some citations added, generally in good condition now

-Definitions section is good, has had one check, but needs further assessment

-Strategic Communication section had parts completely removed (S.America and parts of Middle East) from it due to unreferenced baseless assertions that were uncited

-Propaganda model section added, but modern changes in the field could be added

-'Role of social media' section cleaned up

-Application to Politics object has been added on the discussion board to request political communication be added at some point to the interactive object.

Tasks that need completing:

-The definitions section is too US oriented, and does not elucidate enough on the subject, has good sections but needs bettering (editorially)

-Role of social media needs more examples, with current examples i.e. US, UK, Ukrainian, European or other examples of usage and stats would really benefit the section and make it much stronger

-Media vs. political logic section should be added as a modern and important section

-The areas of study section is good but needs further updating and improvement on information with more description needed

-I think that the George W. Bush picture being brought to the top would be a good header image that is relevant.
