[edit]What is known of the technical details about the system? Can someone add any information they can find to the article, as I imagine it would be of interest. Running such a database must pose a significant technical challenge. 86.136.3.193 01:36, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
The PNC and CAD are based on an old airline ticket booking programme purchased from 'Laker', I was informed (on my training course to operate the system) that IBM wanted to create a system that linked all the police computer programmes but the police refused to give the go ahead for such project as IBM stipulated in the proposed contract that they would advertise the association as 'IBM the best computers for the best police force' the police refused, stating that they had a no advertisment stance which left us with what we are still using today....
IBM bid for the initial implementation of PNC but lost out to Burroughs [Richard PNCU 1973 - 1984] —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bcsuk (talk • contribs) 14:45, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
People have made a number of Freedom of Information requests on the whatdotheyknow website which you can google search, answers to which the Home Office have provided and in one of them, the Home Office goes into detail answering the questions about what the system looks like. Copies of recent PNC User manuals are also published on the same site. 19:49, 27 February 2021. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.30.74.149 (talk)
Databases
[edit]The article mentions that there are "several" databases on the PNC but not what they are a list would be useful. I've made crimint is this part of the PNC? Smartse (talk) 23:02, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
Also there is talk of a new national police database [1] should this be added to this page or a new article created? Smartse (talk) 15:17, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
Scotland
[edit]Scottish police have access to the pnc and should be added, I have added them if any one wants to check I found this.
"While all police forces in Scotland can and do have direct access to PNC, the vast majority of transactions concerning the start and end results of criminal proceedings are processed through Scotland's own computerised Criminal History System (CHS). The CHS has a wide range of functions, allowing procurators fiscal to update impending cases and courts to enter case results, all of which are subsequently transferred to PNC."

PNDs on PNC?
[edit]Do Penalty Notices for Disorder appear on the PNC like cautions do? 81.153.164.125 (talk) 03:46, 6 March 2016 (UTC)
Yes they do but because Penalty Notices for Disorder do not involve an admission of guilt like cautions do, they form part of an "Event History" within a person's nominal record and therefore do not form part of a person's criminal record. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.151.160.50 (talk) 13:28, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
