The Ukranian article has lots of cool formulae on it, if someone can translate! --134.28.62.22 (talk) 14:09, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

boxcar windows???

[edit]

Usable crystals also exhibit the piezoelectric effect to some degree[1] (RTP has the lowest, BBO and Lithium niobate are high), after a voltage change sound waves start propagating from the sides of the crystal to the middle. This is not important for pulse pickers, but for boxcar windows. Guard space between the light and the faces of the crystals needs to be larger for longer holding times.

Yeah that is the most un-understandable paragraph I have ever read... 71.139.171.89 (talk) 23:00, 13 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Plasma electrode Pockels cell

[edit]

You might want to add something about the large plasma electrode Pockels cells used in the NIF laser. 71.139.171.89 (talk) 23:01, 13 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Rename article. Add picture. Rewrite.

[edit]

(1) This article should be renamed "Pockels cell". It deals only with Pockels cells. The Pockels effect is disposed of in a single sentence at the beginning. Maybe it could use its own article.

(2) A picture of a Pockels cell is needed.

(3) The article is much too technical. How do I add the tag for this? Also, the article is very badly written. 178.38.27.252 (talk) 15:23, 28 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Improper use of "along"

[edit]

The sentence "Longitudinal Pockels cells operate with electric field applied along the crystal optic axis or along incident beam propagation." is unclear. Is the direction of the electric field perpendicular the the crystal optic axis? Or parallel? 87.75.23.234 (talk) 21:59, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Parallel. Constant314 (talk) 22:08, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
