German exonym?

Did this village have another name while under German dominion (prior to 1945)? The Polish Wikipedia page doesn't seem to indicate one, and it doesn't appear on this list. -- Deborahjay (talk) 09:52, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

According to this, former names are Meffersdorfer Städtel and Wigandsthal (though it doesn't say when they were in use).--Kotniski (talk) 11:06, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There's more information here, though I can't quite make out what's going on - there seem to be two villages which became fused (Pobiedna and "Unięcice" in Polish). Anyway, there was a name Mayfarthsdorff (because it was on a May pilgrmage route), which became corrupted to Meffersdorf; in 1667 when it got its town charter it was named Meffersdorfer Städtel, but then changed to Wigandsthal in 1688 in honour of its founder. The new Polish name Pobiedna was adopted in 1947 (perhaps derived from the Russian word for victory). I don't know when "Unięcice" was in use.--Kotniski (talk) 11:17, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
