It seem 1949 is not the year of establishment. According to Central Government owned Ta Kung Pao, February 1949 was the date of capital increase and reform of the bank (or Chinese: 銀號; lit. 'silver shop'). The capital was injected by a person called "張錫榮" which (secretly?) representing the communist government (at that time the civil war did not end (until c. 1950), 1 October 1949 was the official date of establishment of PRC), and only later it was under the formal command by the People's Bank of China and later the Bank of China Group (a special entity that related to Bank of China), an unincorporated parent entity of the bank.
