Relationship to phrase "plum position"?
[edit]Does anyone have (sourced) information about the relationship between the "plum book" and the phrase "plum position" (often used in US politics to describe a choice appointment within the civil service)? Did one usage predate the other, and are they related at all? My limited web search has turned up nothing verifiable so far. thither 21:13, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
- For the record if anyone's curious like I was, "plum position" predates the Plum Book; details are at Wiktionary under wikt:Plum Book and wikt:plum. —Nizolan (talk · c.) 17:54, 7 June 2021 (UTC)
