Proposed merger

[edit]

The common name "oyster mushroom" is generally used for any species of Pleurotus. Also, Pleurotus ostreatus is not the only species in this genus that is cultivated and sold as an "oyster mushroom". The two articles should be merged into the article bearing the scientific name for this group, Pleurotus, as scientific names are preferred as article titles. (However, it could be argued that since this is an agricultural species the article should bear the common name, as is the Wikipedia standard for crop species.) Discuss. HINT: Some people in Perth, Australia now grow them on coffee waste collected from cafes. That should be noted. 58.174.193.15 (talk) 06:07, 10 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Nutional info and toxicity of Pleurotus cornucopiae ????

[edit]

I bought a pack of the vegie and it full of fish smell when I open the pack, which prompts me to wondering if the mushrooms contains marine nutrional value as fish does. In addition to that, my gut feeling told me that the vegie may also contain a fair bit amount of amines. Because the cooked dish with a pickled vegie tastes very similar to the one that normally contains fish. I have searched the info of amines and omega 3 for the mushroom and little can be found. Any ideas....??? --—Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.62.138.32 (talkcontribs)

I don't know how to do this, but can there please be a link to https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gewone_oesterzwam ? Thanks. Barbara Touburg (talk) 16:30, 12 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not Done: That specific link doesn't go to the Dutch Wikipedia page of Pleurotus, It instead goes to the Dutch page of Pleurotus ostreatus. Heliozoan (talk) 01:17, 13 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

that page has never been made, a short list off species is on https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pleurotaceae which is one step higher in the 'order'85.149.83.125 (talk) 19:19, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
