Lack of clarity and unclear discrepancy

[edit]

1. "Aeschylus also followed this tradition when he called the Atreidai "the race of Pleisthenes" (τὸ Πλεισθένους γένος)".

It's not clear what the above sentence infers. What tradition did Aeschylus follow? How can it be Atreidai if the Greek text clearly spells Pleisthenes? It's a contradiction.

2. "Agamemnon and Menelaus are commonly considered the sons of Atreus; hence they are often given the name Atreidai, or "the sons of Atreus". One explanation for this discrepancy is that, after the early death of Pleisthenes, Atreus raised his grandsons, the sons of Pleisthenes, as his own sons".

I am aware of the fact Agamemnon and Menelaus were sons of Atreus and Aerope (not sure according to who exactly) or sons of Pleisthenes (son of Atreus) and Cleolla (according to Hesiod). I don't understand where the discrepancy is (unless it's in the context of Hesiod reported. If that is the case the sentence needs to be rewritten to clearly create the mentioned discrepancy.
