Is "Plecia" the same insect than "Lovebug" or "Plecia nearctica" ?
No, Plecia does not describe the same concept as the lovebug (Plecia nearctica). Plecia is a genus that includes many species, one of which is the lovebug. In other words, the lovebug is a kind of Plecia, but Plecia ≠ lovebug, in the same way that Wikipedia is a kind of encyclopaedia, but encyclopaedia ≠ Wikipedia.
