Pt-covered MG?
[edit]What is "Mg" in the article, apart from the magnesium metal? Nobody uses "Mg" to denote weight! People in metricated (SI) countries use gram(m), kilo(gramme) and (metric) ton, depending on how big the object or amount is. Elephant tons, small car or an adult human in kilos, baby weight in gramms.
The article probably wants to say that yearly new Pt produce is just 150 metric tons? (Although that seems too little, considering how often Pt is used to mend missing bone in badly injured people. Some even have a mostly Pt cranium, after having a disagreement with a train or so.) 82.131.210.163 (talk) 19:40, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
- Ha, lol. Disagreement with a train. Trains usually win those.

Price Of Platinum Versus Gold For most of its comparatively much shorter history, platinum has been more valuable than gold. But recently platinum prices have fallen considerably behind those of gold. Doesn't that introduce a security risk, by enabling the relatively easy and very profitable (at current prices) faking of gold bullion, especially the larger bars? Since platinum is denser than gold, it can be combined with silver (say) to make an alloyed core that has the exact same density as gold, while being much cheaper. This core could then be encased in pure gold and the whole sold off as an ingot of high purity gold. Isn't this a concern? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.168.78.24 (talk) 07:24, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
