Species/Ecotype Controversy

From the little bit of research that I've done, there doesn't seem to be a consensus, yet, on whether the Wood Bison is a subspecies or ecotype of the North American Bison. So I added some references that discuss the controversy. But it would be nice if someone created a section for discussing the controversy and enumerating the arguments for both sides of the debate. Light wording

This wording: "However, by the late 1880s, the total number of bison in the United States had been reduced to fewer than 600" is a little light on the specicide committed by the US and Canadian governments with the overt purpose to destroy Indigenous nations and cleanse their countries of their populations...
