Islamic Society of North America
[edit]Why is Plainfield home of the Islamic Society of North America? Is there a sizeable Muslim community? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ahassan05 (talk • contribs) 08:34, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
- See if reliable sources discuss this. I would imagine some do. WhisperToMe (talk) 07:26, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
- As far as I'm aware, there isn't a very large or notable Muslim community in this location. Despite this, Plainfield has historically been a center for religious freedom due to its Quaker origins. Also, Plainfield is located immediately outside Indianapolis, and it would be reasonable for their headquarters to be near a major Midwest city due to the Islamic Society of North America having strong historical ties to the Midwest since its founding as a student group in Illinois.
