Good Article nomination

[edit]

This article is based on the corresponding article in Hebrew, where it has been a featured article for over a decade. It is detailed and well-supported, primarily drawing on the outstanding work of Tritel, published by the Hebrew University Press in 2013. I would like to nominate this article for 'Good Article' status. Tal Umatar טל ומטר (talk) 15:00, 5 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

mistakes

[edit]

There are a lot of mistakes in this artical. The artical in hebrew is much better. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.172.74.43 (talk) 09:22, 13 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to rewrite the article and translate the Hebrew and the Yiddish version. אלי לייטנר (talk) 20:17, 15 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The next passag is entirly mistaken. I'v removed it from the article.

S. Sachs thinks that it was compiled from two previous works by the same author, the relation of the two productions to each other being that of text and commentary, the text giving merely the story of the Bible, which was interrupted by the commentary in the form of the Aggadah, and the commentary being intended for reading during the ten days of penitence. Meir ha-Levi Horwitz thinks that the author developed those Bible stories which bore relation to the entire nation, dealing lightly with those that concerned only individuals.

Customs and halachot which are not referred to PRE

[edit]
"The regulation that during the recitation of the Kol Nidre on the Day of Atonement two prominent members of the community shall stand beside the cantor (xliv.), and that on Thursday all worshipers must stand while reciting prayers (ch. xlvi.)."

"Kol Nidre" and "Thursday" (why just Thursday?) are not mentioned in PRE at all. and the same is about the next custom:

"Recitation of Ps. xcii. during the Friday evening services (ch. xix.; comp. Shab. 118a)."

no Friday evening services is menstiond in PRE.

Such mistakes and others are found in the originl article in JE wiche was ritten hundred year ago. I'm rewriting this article based on Eliezer Treitl's new book and on the hebrew and Yidihs verstion. אלי לייטנר (talk) 15:05, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Request Edit - Public Domain English Text

[edit]

Sefaria recently digitized and posted the full text of the 1916 English translation by Gerald Friedlander. It's a public domain text. Sefaria presents it in parallel to the orignal Hebrew.

I believe that a link to this would fall under section 2 of WP:ELYES.

I have a COI (I work for Sefaria), and have discussed it on WikiProject:Judaism. Similar requests have been approved, and it seems there's consensus on this.

Link should probably be to Pirkei De-Rabbi Eliezer - orignal Hebrew and Friedlander translation.

Pirkei De-Rabbi Eliezer

[edit]

I have corrected many of the issues in the article Pirkei De-Rabbi Eliezer. Please check if it is possible to slightly modify what you added at the beginning of the article. Thank you. טל ומטר (talk) 07:46, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your message, טל ומטר; I've moved the discussion to the talk page, which is the best place to discuss improvements to an article in general. It looks like you've been doing good work so far, but I still see some of the issues I identified earlier: there are still sections of text with no sources, and the reference style needs some polishing. I would recommend that you use a citation template or two, which are explained in further detail at Help:Referencing for beginners. Also, note that parenthetical citations are not an acceptable style on Wikipedia — those need to be moved into the footnotes using <ref>...</ref> tags. As for the structure, I appreciate that you've reduced the number of sections, but the order in which information is presented is still rather atypical of encyclopedia articles. Rather than getting into further detail than this, I'd recommend you do a deep reading of a few articles in Category:FA-Class Book articles, which are among the highest-quality articles on Wikipedia that cover a similar subject. Thank you very much for your help. I will do my best to correct things according to your guidelines. טל ומטר (talk) 18:12, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've corrected and filled in many gaps, revising again and again. What else can and should be fixed? Thank you.טל ומטר (talk) 14:34, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've edited and restructured the material, combining smaller sections into more readable, complete chapters, and standardized the referencing style. Therefore, I'm removing the relevant templates that were initially placed at the beginning of the article. If there are any corrections or edits needed, please let me know, and I'll make the necessary adjustments. טל ומטר (talk) 22:39, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

peer review

[edit]

The current article is rated as 'start'. After my recent contributions, I would appreciate a peer review. But I don't know how to do it. Thank you for your assistance. Tal Umatar.טל ומטר (talk) 18:39, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

help

[edit]

Thanks a lot for your help with editing the "Pirkei DeRabbi Eliezer" article. I need to redo the references and footnotes separately, and I'm finding it difficult. Can you help me with this? Thanks a lot. Tal Umatar. טל ומטר (talk) 09:29, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have filtered the footnotes from the references, and now the template can be removed. Please provide additional comments on any remaining issues, and I will correct them to the best of my ability. Tal Umatar טל ומטר (talk) 19:03, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

GA Review

[edit]
This is a copy of comments from an abandoned GA review, G6'd rather than closing as failed.

I am planning to review the article. GoldenPenny (talk) 15:15, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@GoldenPenny: Please post your review as soon as possible, or indicate if you are unable to complete this review. Z1720 (talk) 01:36, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You've been inactive for a month. I am going to request a second opinion. 750h+ 10:38, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
750h+, both the nom טל ומטר (talk · contribs) and original reviewer GoldenPenny have been inactive for at least a month now. Since there's no commentary on this page, would you object to me G6ing the review and removing the GAN, since the nom isn't here to respond? They can always revert me if they return to activity. ♠PMC(talk) 18:14, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think a G6 would be fine. 750h+ 23:11, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Over a decade ago, the corresponding article in Hebrew achieved 'featured article' status. I took the time to translate it into English, and after receiving some feedback, I made a few minor improvements to the structure. However, due to the lack of interest from other editors, I decided to step back from further involvement with the English version. I have no objections if you choose to apply a G6 (housekeeping) deletion to close the review and remove the Good Article nomination. טל ומטר (talk) 23:29, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For what it's worth, טל ומטר, I appreciate your efforts to translate featured content from other wikis, and I'm sorry to hear that you've stepped back from contributing here deliberately. In the next few months, if you change your mind about nominating this, go ahead and revert my removal of the GAN and the article will be put back into the queue with the same timestamp it originally had. I'm going to move these comments to the talk page and G6 the GAN. ♠PMC(talk) 00:09, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
