NPOV and original research issues

[edit]

There are still a lot of issues with this article.

"Pioneer was designated the National GRAMMY Signature High School for 2005-2006." is in the introductory paragraph. This is insignificant to the introductory paragraph and seems to boast about the school's achievements. Fairly recent information on the Pioneer Theater Guild and the women's swim team achievements are not significant enough to be included alongside a short history of the school.

The entire second paragraph is original research. There is nothing "logically" tying a large student body with "musical and athletic successes" except the author's own imagination, especially since the school's musical and athletic successes have only been explained briefly.

The notable alumni section remains uncited. -coolbho3000 (talk) 02:49, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Redundancy

[edit]

There are currently two music sections. No additional information is needed but these sections should be merged. Preferably remove the second one and merge it into the first one. GuyHimGuy (talk) 21:15, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I took a stab at it. I did not change any material, just moved the second music section up under the first one. I also changed some section headings; "Pioneer" is redundant in headings, football is part of athletics, etc. Kendall-K1 (talk) 20:47, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

German scholarship program?

[edit]

I know WP:NOTPAPER, but the section regarding the German scholarship program has significant notability issues. As Toddst1 had stated in his edit summary, the scholarship program is one of many. I am currently a student at Pioneer. I have never heard of this scholarship opportunity. This is indeed a unique scholarship opportunity due to Tubingen being Ann Arbor's sister city, but it's still not notable. If information about this scholarship program can be added, it is only fair to include the numerous other scholarship opportunities, such as rising scholars. Opinions please? The same topic would be addressed on Huron's talk page as well. GuyHimGuy (talk) 02:01, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know how much more you need in proof of what I am saying.

I had given the links to WP:RS right in the second edit summary. While I know you are new around here, you could have atleast looked at why I undid your edit. It's not about 'more proof', but also about Reliability. Also, as pointed out on your talk page, you may have a conflict of interest. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 19:24, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Can someone remove all of the unsourced entries the "Notable Alumni" section? It's unreferenced and unencyclopedic. Epicgenius (talk) 19:24, 19 February 2014 (UTC) (amended 19:28, 19 February 2014 (UTC))[reply]

And most of the music section. Doesn't need to be here. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 19:25, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Not done: please make your request in a "change X to Y" format. — {{U|Technical 13}} (tec) 13:45, 22 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sports

[edit]

One would get the impression from this article that Pioneer is mostly a sports school, with some music thrown in. Do we really need the long lists of championships and sports alums? Kendall-K1 (talk) 01:48, 21 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Toddst1: Thanks! Kendall-K1 (talk) 23:30, 6 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Every other entry in the alum section is sourced except this one. Is there some good reason we should make an exception here? Kendall-K1 (talk) 01:06, 6 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Did you try googling her & Pioneer? I did and just added a source. I'm sure that are more if you want more. Carptrash (talk) 01:09, 6 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I still don't see evidence of notability. Kendall-K1 (talk) 01:11, 6 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Usually, on wikipedia, "notable" means that the person or subject has a wikipedia article about him, her or it. That if bracketed, the subject will show up as a blue link. We don't decide what sort of school Pioneer is, the alumni do. From my experience Pineer is known as being jockocrarcy so this comes as no surprise to me. Anyway, you do not feel that making the US Olympic team for three different Olympics is notable? Trust me, this is an argument you will loose. Carptrash (talk) 01:18, 6 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't matter what you or I consider to be notable, and no, an article by itself doesn't make someone notable. WP:N is the relevant policy. Kendall-K1 (talk) 01:45, 6 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
