- WP:RSN is lukewarm on SBNation as a reliable source.
- I'll review this. BeanieFan11 (talk) 22:54, 20 February 2023 (UTC)

Overall: New enough, appears long enough (although it is rather short), neutral and is sourced. Hook is cited and is interesting. I've seen SBNation used hundreds if not thousands of times (and have used it a number of times myself) so I believe it is a good enough source to count as "reliable." No QPQ needed, as this would be the nominator's third credit. Appears good to go! BeanieFan11 (talk) 23:08, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- I hesitated on this nomination because it seems like a borderline case of notability. But onward we go! Bruxton (talk) 22:36, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
Refer to Pinto Bean with he/him pronouns
[edit]Pinto Bean is certainly male, as seen in this video by a UIUC student. Since he's a charismatic individual animal, and an unofficial UIUC mascot, I think we should refer to him with anthropomorphic he/him pronouns. Wikipedia already does this for other animals, like Alex (parrot) or Lassie. Anecdotally, most of the UIUC students I know use he/him pronouns when referring to Pinto Bean. - Unfortunately I don't think that video qualifies as a reliable source for Pinto Bean's gender. Unless we have an actual reliable source indicating Pinto Bean's gender, I think we should keep it as it is. BanjoZebra (talk) 18:34, 21 September 2023 (UTC)
- This University of Illinois blog article should qualify, no? The university possesses his remains. Mooonswimmer 22:26, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
- Good call! Hadn't seen this source before, we can go ahead and add the gender confirmation BanjoZebra (talk) 22:28, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
