Fair use rationale for Image:Pinkpop.gif
[edit]Image:Pinkpop.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 09:09, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Past Performers & All acts
[edit]Obviously there is an overlap between Past performers and all acts (where the former ought to be a subset of the later).
I suggest making a new article List of all acts on Pinkpop where the list of all acts well be put. And I would suggest changing Past performers to notable performance and only put the notable once there. Mach10 (talk) 12:22, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
New Picture
[edit]Someone should upload a new picture. This one is far to old: the logo has been changed since then. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.206.139.28 (talk) 19:22, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
Plinkerpop
[edit]Does anyone here know if they play plinkerpop music at this festival? DeeRD (talk) 04:26, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
What claim? Oldest Festival in the World
[edit]Can someone explain to me what the last two sentences of the second paragraph of the Name and Logo sections are talking about? I really have no clue. As it's unclear, I would reword this myself, but I don't know what it means. KeithyIrwin (talk) 17:09, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
Claim to be the oldest annual (pop) festival. My guess is that those sentences are coming from the other side. (Oregon fair supporters). Pinkpop history is well documented (e.g. in papers of the region), and the main organizer (Jan Smeets) is one of the original people, so I can't imagine that a real claim couldn't be resolved in two minutes by serious press.
From what I remember there is some discussion about what the first edition was, because it essentially was a party organized by students that somehow got bigger then expected (this being the late sixties or 1970) because word got out there was a rogue party. The year after it was more organized, and became annual. There always has been some discussion if the first one should be counted or not. I also vaguely recall one year in mid eighties being skipped, in what were pretty much the dark ages of the festival with only several thousands attendance.
At least the article is false that the claims only originated after some challenge. There being an first unorganized edition is documented in local papers, at I must already have read it in the late eighties. (and probably you'll find earlier references if you do some digging).
The whole Oregon fair controverse is fairly new to me (despite being a regular visitor, and being from the region). I've followed the festival in the media for decades and never saw "World" claims, only Europe-wide. Usually the recurring story is which is the oldest in Europe, Danish Roskilde vs Pinkpop, one being older, one being more continuous IIRC.

Longest running annual music festival in the world?
[edit]Does anyone has a verifiable reference for that or could refine the statement? Found few music festivals that have been running annualy without interruption for a longer period.
National Folk Festival (Australia) that seems to be ongoing since 1967 too. See National_Folk_Festival_(Australia) Pori Jazz since 1966 Pori_Jazz
etc.
Read the article, It says Pop and Rock Festival. 88.159.78.61 (talk) 19:19, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
