Merge

[edit]

I was going to PROD this, but I didn't have the heart to do it. The book clearly doesn't meet WP:NBOOK, but the fact that a children's book has been written about geology is somewhat impressive, so perhaps a merge to either Lyme Bay or Chesil Beach is in order? Pinging Premeditated Chaos for input as this is a Feb 09 orphan (which is why I came across it). Thanks, SITH (talk) 16:46, 4 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Awww, it is kind of an adorable concept, isn't it? I'm torn on the merge. The strict notability-ist in me says we shouldn't be adding info on non-notable media about a place to an article on a place, or we risk having every Tom Beach and Dickharry Bay get an "in popular culture" section stuffed with local cruft. On the other hand, it is kind of unique and it seems sad to lose it, and there's enough local coverage that it's verifiable, if not independently notable. Maybe to Isle of Portland, where the author is from? It already has a literature section... ♠PMC(talk) 17:06, 4 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Premeditated Chaos, I'll leave it where it is for now, after having a look for offline sources using the author (link) there might be enough to pass WP:NBOOK. I was thinking "potentially the author is notable" but that search turned up this and this, the former of which says the book has been distributed among every nursery, infant and primary school in the county, which makes it notable at least at a county-wide level. I'll add more and see. SITH (talk) 19:05, 12 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
