Picture of the old town

[edit]

Hello,

I suggest this higher-resolution picture of the ancient city to put in the upper right box. It shows more detail of the Bell Tower, more "street life" and its colors are more vivid. (I took it myself in August 2005.)

Which picture do you prefer?

I liked your picture so I changed it. Mutt (talk) 06:29, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Extensions

[edit]

There is no mention in UNESCO site to extensions in 2000 or 2001 as the template in the article specify. Avihu (talk) 09:10, 11 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am scheduled to visit there during Qingming 2013.

Merge

[edit]

Pingyao is the most common form of the name now, even though the WHC used the mistaken pinyin "Ping Yao" in its approval of the site and there happens to be a county of the same name. This article needs to be cleaned up to focus on its proper WP:SCOPE, the historic site that constitutes Pingyao County's "Old Pottery Town". Pingyao Ancient Town should merge and redirect here, and the redirect at Pingyao County should be expanded into an article about the entire county with all its townships and villages. — LlywelynII 09:29, 19 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hm... maybe I was overhasty. Looks like Pingyao Ancient City is the official English name per the Shanxi Provincial People's Gov't. In any case, a single article on the tourist trap and a separate treatment of the county. — LlywelynII 11:10, 19 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
