[edit]An unregistered user insists that Pine Creek Gorge, sometimes referred to as The Pennsylvania Grand Canyon just isn't correct. The official name of the gorge is Pine Creek Gorge and the name The Pennsylvania Grand Canyon was strictly a marketing ploy of the old days. I have changed it to, also know as, the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon. I don't like it, but I hope it's a good compromise. I would like some feedback here. I have been to the Grand Canyon and it makes Pine Creek Gorge look like a golf divot. Dincher (talk) 22:37, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
- I searched on Google and "Pine Creek Gorge" with Pennsylvania had way more hits than "Pennsylvania Grand Canyon". Ruhrfisch ><>°° 23:06, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
- yup. That's its name. Dincher (talk) 23:42, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
- The USGS GNIS recognizes "Pine Creek Gorge" (see here) and is the name it uses on its topographic maps. The USGS GNIS also lists "Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania" here and gives the source as the 1977 PennDOT county highway map. The current official PennDOT Tioga County highway map uses both names - see here. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 00:13, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
