What about europe
[edit]Essentially, any where where both pigs and humans reside, the people there will practice hog roasts, however this article seems to only concentrate on North America. Please expand. Woodnot

Merge discussion
[edit]There does not appear to be a real need for two articles, Pig pickin' and Pig roast, on essentially the same meal. The two articles could be merged into one, preserving the content of the Pig pickin' article in a section dedicated to southern-style whole-hog barbecue events. Otherwise, however, I don't see where Wikipedia is served well by two seperate articles here. --Jayron32 04:40, 7 January 2012 (UTC)
- I would recommend keeping them separate as a pig pickin' is distinctly a part of southern US culture. Would it make sense to redirect Luau to this page?
⋙–Berean–Hunter—► 03:02, 28 May 2012 (UTC)- I've removed the merge tags as no one else has indicated any support of a merge in 9 months. While similar in the food served, I assume there are cultural differences that are worth writing about, making them distinct. Cross linking is a good idea. - Looks like the tag on the piglet page was left behind in 2012, though. I'll wander on over and deal with it.Klbrain (talk) 22:00, 28 August 2015 (UTC)
La Caja China (this companies products are currently over-emphasized)
[edit]This is a commercial brand of pig roaster which may be over-emphasized in this article. This article contains two separate sentences about this brand of pig roaster. "In an American Cuban-style pig roast, the "caja china" is the most commercially popular method by which to roast a whole pig." and "Another popular method is to use a pig roasting box, the oldest and best known brand of which is "La Caja China." These statements are not supported by the included sources. These sentences should be removed or re-worded until the claims can be backed up. May I suggest something like, "La Caja China, which translates from Spanish as "The Chinese Box" is wooden box, lined with aluminum sheet metal. The hog is placed inside the box and charcoal briquets are held on a rack above the hog. Sources: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7CuBefmmqg [Bobby Flay of the Food Network attends a pig roast with the creator of La Caja China] and http://www.lacajachina.com [La Caja China official website]. I believe this product is over emphasized because there are hundreds of other brands of commercial pig roasters yet no others are mentioned. 24.47.251.135 (talk) 15:40, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
