Notability

[edit]
The following discussion is closed and will soon be archived: outcome was: redirected

How is notability established here? What is the subject "known for"? Per Wikipedia:WikiProject_Peerage_and_Baronetage#Notability, title holders and "nobility" are not automatically notable. Not only, per the current content, is it unclear that the subject was a holder of a specific title, if all we can say is someone were born, begat children (to pass on their family name), and then died, how does that add up to notability? Existence (and having children during that existence) isn't notability. If it were, Wikipedia would have an entry for every human who parented a child... Bump. Absent other thoughts and an expansion of the content (and given the similarity of this title/content to that discussed in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Thomas Butler of Cahir), I'm inclined to merge/redirect this title to Butler dynasty#Butlers of Cahir. Other thoughts? Guliolopez (talk) 15:12, 27 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
(Further) bump. It's been several weeks since I opened the thread above. Per WP:MERGECLOSE, if there are no other thoughts I will likely go ahead with the merge/redirect (from Piers Butler of Cahir to Butlers of Cahir) shortly. Guliolopez (talk) 00:16, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Resolved. OK. It's been a well over a month since I opened this thread, and after several bumps and several prompts/tags, I haven't heard any other inputs. So have gone ahead with the redirect. Closing thread. Guliolopez (talk) 20:26, 28 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
