Jacques Foccart
[edit]- His biography L'Homme de l'Ombre (Man of the Shadows), of Jacques Foccart, de Gaulle's advisor for African matters, owed him a trial for libel, which he won.
- What does it mean who won what (I can not find an English language source over the libel)?
- Does this mean: Jacques Foccart, de Gaulle's advisor for African matters took Pierre Péan to court for libel over his biography on him called L'Homme de l'Ombre (Man of the Shadows). The case revolved around xyz and ** Jacques Foccart won and was awarded costs and substancial financial compensation
- Jacques Foccart won minor damages but his reputation was damaged.
- Jacques Foccart lost

NPOV:Lybia
[edit]The part about Lybia seems to be pretty NPOV to me. Especially in that it presents Péan version as the accepted truth (with the use of the word "revealed", for example), when it is actually very controversial. The description of the other books seems to be more balanced, with the use of "alleged", and the precision that Péan views are controversial. I'll try to rephrase the Lybia part along these lines. 130.54.130.67 (talk) 06:55, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
I went ahead and removed a big part of the details of the alleged evidence fabrications (while at the same time giving a fuller description of "Manipulations Africaines" and removing POV formulations). These details were taking half of the article, were covering only a small part of the book "Manipulations Africaines", and some of these details were not even from Pean's book. If someone think that a full description of Pean's thesis should be available on Wikipedia (which would certainly be valuable), I suggest creating an entry for the book "Manipulations Africaines" or one about the controversies over the UTA flight sabotage. 130.54.130.67 (talk) 08:05, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
Protection
[edit]I think this article might need some extra protection due to the recent book of Pierre Péan on Bernard Kouchner. I don't know how to ask for it, anyone reading this... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Arnaud'Amiral'Montiel (talk • contribs) 17:37, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
- Not necessary, whilst Péan's biography is properly referenced in relation to the new book.---PJHaseldine (talk) 22:06, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
