Birthdate

[edit]

Birthdate error corrected at the request of the subject. Permanent reference will be added after his obituary is published. Linguoboy (talk) 01:56, 13 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Obituary? You had me worried there for a moment. If you're in touch with Pierre, why not just ask him to add his birth date to his Facebook page, then we can use that as a reference. Robman94 (talk) 15:10, 14 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Will do. He apparently has some other edits in mind, not sure what. I'm working on setting up a meeting and I plan to document our conversation. Can I reach out to you if I have questions about proper sourcing?Linguoboy (talk) 22:52, 15 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Absolutely, I can even join you for the meeting if you like, I'm in Chicago.Robman94 (talk) 18:45, 16 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Requested edits

[edit]

I spoke to Pierre for about 90 minutes today and recorded most of it. (I'll see about editing it down to just the music-related bits and posting that to Wikimedia Commons.) He's very lucid and has a great memory and is quite open to talking about his past. His requested edits boil down to:

  • His Gibson He'd like to see mention of his fave guitar (a Gibson G3 he bought in 1980) with a link to the corresponding Wikipedia page. I encouraged him to dictate a description and have it posted to his FB page and upload an image to Wikimedia Commons if possible. (Steve Gillis has it with him in the studio right now so I wasn't able to take a photograph myself.)
  • Naked Raygun He was insistent that Naked Raygun never "split up", that the members just got busy with other projects, and that he has never ceased being a member since its founding, he just had to take time off from performing live, so it's inaccurate to say he was "forced to drop out" or that Mittler "replaced" him. He'd also like Doreza mentioned on his page, since it's him who's been the live bassist since 2013 and not Mittler.
  • Pegboy He also insists that he did not "drop out" of Pegboy but discovered he'd been replaced when he heard the band was playing a concert without him. Linguoboy (talk) 19:37, 17 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
All done, and I've added a few more references to support the additions too. Btw, are you Lou? Robman94 (talk) 23:00, 17 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You're a fuckin' legend, mate. (I just had to fix a couple typos.) No, I'm just a friend of a friend who answered an appeal for assistance. Linguoboy (talk) 01:34, 18 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Linguoboy:, I just heard about Pierre today, please accept my condolences. Robman94 (talk) 00:11, 10 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, @Robman94:. BTW, I got more request for an edit from his widow: The stroke was in 2010, not 2011. Unfortunately, all the obituaries have it wrong now, but I'm making the edit and adding a citation for it. Linguoboy (talk) 02:06, 10 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
