Which institute?
[edit]- The article says "Le Monnier was admitted in 1739 to the Royal Society, and was one of the 144 original members of the Institute.". Which institute is this? Anthony Appleyard (talk) 14:08, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
- I thought it was of course the Royal Society. The problem, is, however, that the membership lists of the Royal Society lists him just as a "fellow", not as an "original fellow". They consider "original fellows" only people elected before July 1663, an they list exactly 118 "founder fellows" or "original fellows", not 144. An error in the 1911 EB, from where this sentence comes? Lupo 08:44, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
