The Marx Brothers
[edit]Having seen all of the Marx Brothers movies, I can categorcially state that there isn't a single pie fight in any of their films. So I have removed their name from this article. --Stenun 17:12, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
Illustration needed
[edit]I think this article needs a image to illustrate this subject, I am thinking of a comic strip along the right side.--Henke37 19:10, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
Content
[edit]After having read the comments above I have one thought: If this article is so important, then why has nobody actually mentioned the contents/ingredients of the pie? --andreasegde 09:46, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
- For reference, I've read that the ingredients are completely arbitrary but the most utilitarian throwing pie design is nothing but a pie bottom and whipped cream, which can be combined on location immediately before use. This kind of pie was smeared on Bill Gates. --Kizor 14:37, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
Previous discussions
[edit]Previous discussions about the scope of this article have been archived, and honestly it was to get them out of the way. The presence of an extremely determined, confident and expressive editor, who has since been permabanned for failure to behave elsewhere, made them fruitless. Take up the matter again if you so wish. --Kizor 15:29, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
- Would it be possible to provide a link to that archive? Thanks. Msalt (talk) 19:32, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
- It's linked in the archive box, and is also here: Talk:Pieing/Archive 1. Will Beback talk 19:56, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
Intro edit
[edit]The original intro was well written, but unsupported by any source. It made no mention of the fact that "pieing" is a criminal act punishable under law. Perpetrators have been jailed and there is at least one case in which the victim sustained injury. The term appears to be of tabloid origin. It trivializes assault. I have rewritten the intro retaining as much as possible of the original while clarifying the legal situation, and briefly mentioning the freedom-of-expression dilemma. I have also retained the "caking" thing. I was unaware of the term. Does anyone have a reference for that? --Zanthorp (talk) 06:40, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
Fortunately I've managed to overcome an editing problem that I encountered earlier.--Zanthorp (talk) 17:58, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
Additions
[edit]There should be an explanation that pies that are usually thrown are just a pie bottom filled with whip cream. I can add that to the introduction. Also, there are many more subcategories and information that can be added to the “Charity” section. Pieing is extremely popular as a fundraiser event at schools, elementary, middle and high school. I can add an article and picture and information about the annual pie toss at Monta Vista High as an example. There can also be a link on how to organize a pie toss. I will put this in the charity section.
There can be a section for the “Punishments” that people have gotten for pieing public figures. And perhaps include celebrities, along with the political figures mentioned, who have been pied.

Dear Christ...
[edit]Why in the world is there an article on the act of throwing a pie in someone's face? This could easily be merged with the article on pies in general. I don't see an article on ding-dong ditching anywhere about... 216.79.193.63 (talk) 20:47, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
- Why not? It's a wide enough subject - comedy performance, practical jokes, political protest, charity etc. For some people (esp. WAM fetishists) life itself revolves around the pie in the face gag. I think the real reason you posted this is because you are scared of having it done to you - like the poor fools who vandalised the Ice Bucket Challenge page. 62.190.148.115 (talk) 08:37, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
Wiki cites another wiki; world divides by zero
[edit]"In one of the Batman comic books, The Joker, as befitting his chaotic nature, once concocted an elaborate scheme the sole purpose of which was to hit Batman in the face with a pie.[5]"
And the citation is TVTropes. Wow, you guys. Quality control. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.205.14.129 (talk) 20:28, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
The Cultural Evolution of Pie in the Face or Pieing
[edit]Here is an interesting article: "The Cultural Evolution of Pie in the Face or Pieing." Look it up on Google. It might be good as a reference or external link. It is a great article with many videos of famous pieing. You will have to get this specific URL on the whitelist though:

Sports, way more than baseball
[edit]It happens in way more sports than just baseball. Pieing happens in hockey all the time. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=nhl+shaving+cream+pie&oq=nhl+shaving+cream+pie&gs_l=youtube.3...754.2458.0.2571.17.14.0.0.0.0.190.1210.8j6.14.0...0.0...1ac.1.11.youtube.8xJnAYgzLEI — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.55.8.93 (talk) 04:13, 6 November 2013 (UTC)
