ABOUT THE RELEASE DATE
[edit]January 11th is the German release date which is a non-notable release date. It doesn't need to be in the article and no date should be added for the US or UK until one is confirmed for the physical release. Just because it's coming out in Germany on January 11th doesn't mean it will come out in the US that week - "Gimme More" was released in the US over a month before it was released in Germany. --Starsareblind07 (talk) 04:55, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- Not just US and UK release dates are important. I think we should keep the German release date. — Jhn* 18:27, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
But it should be mentioned then that it's only German release and not worldwide Zone (talk) 01:07, 29 November 2007 (UTC
January 7th is the UK release date.--Jak3m 18:11, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Piece of me britney.jpg
[edit]Image:Piece of me britney.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Music video
[edit]I think the info. regarding the specific details of what will happen in the music video should be taken out. As far as I know, all the stories that have been released about the music video have been purely based on either speculation or are unconfirmed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.2.66.36 (talk) 15:49, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
- sources says that the video was not actually taken because Spears was late and that the preparations are for the other recording artist, not hers. BritandBeyonce (talk) 04:30, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
i've seen a thirty second clip on youtube and fansites, it states it will premiere tomorrow on some show about britney. 89.100.191.27 (talk) 00:44, 14 December 2007 (UTC) E-To-The-Izzo
Chart Positions
[edit]BILLBOARD:
Who keeps putting the Billboard peak position at 63 instead of 65? it is 65. don't change it. wait for a while and it will achieve higher positions. as of now - 65.
No, it debuted at number 65, then fell to number 80, but then climbed to number 63. check the link. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 158.143.133.149 (talk) 11:28, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
UNITED WORLD CHART:
How can anybody know that the song achieved the number 41 position on Media Traffic? They release data only for the top 40 songs and albums. I delete it for now, unless someone explains or puts a link. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 158.143.133.149 (talk) 11:20, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
OMG, the chart positions section is so ridiculous. I mean, 'massive airplay' in Nauru? Who knows the population of this country and how many radio stations they have? With the existing numbers it's inappropriate to call it 'massive'. Also, the section on Tourism in Philippines, how can anyone make a claim like that? This section should be improved. P.S. Stop adding stuff like 'the single currently sits at number XX at iTunes' - it's silly. Lets make an article of a good standard, rather than stuffing it with all the minor and irrelevant information. Zone (talk) 14:00, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
Delete this!
[edit]It is apparent that Spears's face is edited onto the body of the dancer near the end of the video.
This is a rumor! it isnt confirmed and...it isnt even being reported by anyone(TMZ, Perez Hilton, X17....)! This is just made up by someone who obviously isnt a fan of her! I have deleted it! Please let it stay this way! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ikkomuitnederland (talk • contribs) 22:51, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
In the song.....
[edit]Who is the guy that in every other sentence asks "You Want a Piece of Me"? Yellowstone County Girl (talk) 00:16, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
Answer: It's no guy, it's the singer Robyn. She is referenced in the article's background info, and you can hear her voice clearly (sort of) in the second and fourth repeat of "You wanna piece of me" of the chorus. (Repeat one and three are too heavily distorted and pitched.) 14:07, 8 March 2008

RELEASE DATE 2007- 2008!
[edit]I just read that the release date will be JANUARY 15th, 2008 IN THE ENTIRE EU, January 16th AUSTRALIA, CHINA, JAPAN, NEW ZEALAND and February 1st, 2008 IN MEXICO!!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Welovekes (talk • contribs) 20:04, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
Why...
[edit]isn't there a U.S. release date for the single? Hasn't it already premiered in the U.S.?? It's being played on radio...the music video is now out....i think it's been released. Or, if I'm wrong, then why isn't there an American release date?? Britney IS from America after all. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.2.70.143 (talk) 02:01, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
Canadian peak
[edit]The song is currently #7 on the Canadian Hot 100, not #11.

[edit]we have to add sales on this single?? on united world chart it has sold 71000 copies —Preceding unsigned comment added by AlwaysHere123 (talk • contribs) 20:23, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
United World Chart is not a chart of sales. It counts airplay, sales and votes. So you can't really say how much it sold by looking at UWC —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zone (talk • contribs) 13:28, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Artwork for CD Single
[edit]Is this supposed to be for the UK or the US? Because i went to purchase the single today, although i have the album, and the cover isnt the artwork released. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Anthonycuk (talk • contribs) 19:07, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
Screenshot of the music video
[edit]I added back this one, I don't think that just her face will give an idea of how the video is (that's why we use a screenshotof the video), but Spears and the dancers dancing in the end of the video will. — Jhn* 17:35, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
Special edition cover
[edit]I know this isn't the right place to ask this, but do you know if they released a list of fans that appeared in the cover or something like that??? :) — Jhn* 17:40, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Song Key
[edit]...is C# minor, not E major. However, in the chorus, some sort of synthesizer (sounding like a heavily vocalized voice) plays/sings an e# on the C# chord. This is incidental, though, and the remainder of the chord set is integrally taken from the key of C# minor.
- E major is the relative key of C# minor. --BritandBeyonce (talk) 02:35, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
Unsourced and unverifiable
[edit]I've cleaned-up the chart performaces today and to the succeeding sections. These are unsourced and unverfiable content I removed:
- The track was released for radio airplay on November 27, 2007 in the U.S.[1] and November 29 in the United Kingdom.
- "Piece of Me" charted on digital downloads alone upon the release of Blackout.
- The single sold more than 700,000 downloads to date earning a gold status.[2]
- In the Mexican Hot 100 the song entered the chart at number 78 and topped the charts three weeks later.
- after topping the Dance Chart of that country.[3]
Thank you. --Efe (talk) 07:14, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
Unsourced
[edit]On December 13, 2007, People, Us Weekly and ABC posted a small preview of the video on their websites, and it was confirmed on the Canadian music countdown show MuchOnDemand that MuchMusic would premiere the video on Monday, December 17, 2007. As previously announced, the video made its world premiere on the ABC news magazine 20/20 on Friday, December 14, 2007, and became available a few minutes later on Spears's and MTV's official website and also on her official YouTube channel.
The video was released to the U.S and UK's iTunes Store on December 23, 2007. Since its release, the video has peaked at numbers one, two and three in the Canadian, U.S., and UK iTunes music video charts, respectively. The video was then premiered on TRL on December 19, 2007. The video has also currently reached number two on VH1's Weekly Video Countdown (as voted for on VH1.com) and number three on Total Request Live.
Other reviewers stated that "Piece of Me" shows a piece of the old Britney and that it was just perfect for her career."
Unverifiable
[edit]The video debuted on VH1's VSpot Top 20 Countdown at number twenty on January 4, climbing to number two in the following week,[4] making the video more successful than that of "Gimme More", which peaked at number ten in November.
The music video has so far peaked at two on Blender Magazine's top 100 videos.[5]

United World Chart Info
[edit]What happened to all the information on Britney's UNW chart positions? They're not listed on this page or most of Britney's pages any more. Anyone know anything about why these were removed? UNW chart info is still on other artists' pages... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.119.40.39 (talk) 14:36, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- Chances are that I removed it. We don't need to list every chart in existance, and per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/United World Chart, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/World Music Chart and numerous other deletions of these charts consensus seems pretty clear that this is not a notable chart.
I have not yet started to go systematically about it, so I'm not surprised that it's still listed at some articles.
