comment: i am admittedly not sure how accurate "every year" needs to be. the festival is considered a yearly tradition, but i do not know if any year has ever been skipped. i believe sources tend to state that it has been held every year without explicitly stating that there has been no interruption. notably, it was held in 2021, during the pandemic, which drew much criticism online.

Alaexis, i agree, it would be nice if there was an image of the fight to include in this article, but unfortunately, i was unable to find one on commons. i had considered using images of the gods, but sources seem to refer to them differently, and i do not know enough about them to be able to tell if the illustrations i would select are actually appropriate depictions. in any case, i have now added links to two pictures and a video to try to help readers get a better sense of the festival. please let me know if there is anything else i should address. dying (talk) 18:29, 3 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Cow dung or mud

there is quite a back and forth about the substance that's being thrown in this fight. The sources cite cow dung, many people are editing that to mud and then other ones edit it back to cow dung. I think it makes sense to discuss here the sources and afterward take a final position on the matter. Mario.galante7 (talk) 14:28, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Keeping the Wiki relevant

Some editors seem insistent on delving into the religious makeup of the village in which this festival occurs. Not only are there no sources to back these claims up, but the demographic breakdown is irrelevant to the Wiki which is about the festival.

1. Remove reference to Muslims, it's false and unverified information, there is no source to suggest Muslims partake, the festival is Hindu in origin. And none of the references mention Muslims.

2. The demographic of the village it occurs in is not relevant to the topic and there is also no source to verify this, this information belongs on a Wiki about the village and not a festival that occurs in the village. Only one article talks about it and it has no claims to it. Islam ain't some folk but a religion. What they celebrating is disbelief (shirk) and highly forbidden in Islam. Can you mention the sources for muslim participation in these festivals? Your sources just talks about indian people not specifying hindu and muslim.
