Refined a couple of refs

Have added some refs to build on the page eg Babbage and Barrington.

Suggest you give consideration to PRR's other successes - hosting PMr720 in 1980, and ASSCO's run in 2004. Sulzer55 (talk) 14:26, 30 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Steamtown's trip with PMr720 is probably worthy of inclusion, as it was the last steam passenger service to Quorn from Peterborough. I have the source material available to include this and to reference it adequately, so will include in due course. However I'm not sure of the significance of ASSCO's run? I don't know much about them and the importance of their trip. I've also got enough material to continually expand and reference the entire article; this will occur over time. --Simont141 (talk) 02:31, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Pmr720 was also the only Pacific type steam loco to visit Quorn, and was the last pax train. The ASSCO run is probably of significance as it was the first time PRR has had a third party operator on its network - there is a Wiki page, and material in their magazine "Trackside" - State Library and PDSRM archives have copies - that event was 2004Sulzer55 (talk) 12:13, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Third Party Operators

Added refs to third party operators on PRRs Track - Steamtown pushes the limits a bit, as the yard, at the time, was still AN's. It was not handed over to PRR until early 1986. Still, something unique, and very relevant to the Quorn Line as a whole. ASSCO was, I believe, the first time PRR had an access agreement with a third party operator under the Rail (Operations and Access) Act 1997, and the Rail Safety Act 1996 Sulzer55 (talk) 12:20, 7 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree about Steamtown - while it is significant, I'm just trying to think how it fitted in with PRRPS. I don't think it really did at all actually, it's more to do with the railway history of the Peterborough line and Quorn as a railway town. This article, being about PRRPS, is really about the society and its operations from Quorn - Pt Augusta. Although you could argue that the Pmr was the last steam trip on what is now PRRPS line to Bruce, which occurred as a part of that particular Steamtown journey from Peterborough. --Simont141 (talk) 01:01, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Suggested Merge

Suggest moving the text regarding Steamtown visit to Quorn in to proposed Peterborough to Quorn Railway Line, South Australia page. The visit had had very little involvement, if none, with PRRPS and would be better suited on the Quorn to Peterborough page. ASSCO should stay on PRRPS page, and other inclusions in the visitors section could be visit the then Port Dock Station Railway Museum (Peronne and carriage 144) and Sulphide Street Museum, Broken Hill, of 2 long tom carriages. I agree - and have pinched a template to work up something, and have put it into my sandbox - just not sure how to do a line map. The Pmr visit is mentioned in steamtowns page presently. Now,if I can have a coule of 30 hour days...... Sulzer55 (talk) 23:50, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bringing this up to date

The table of Locomotives tells me that 934 is "Undergoing mechanical overhaul". I rode on a train hauled by that loco three weeks ago. The table needs updating. Is anyone watching who can do that please? HiLo48 (talk) 03:04, 9 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
