Capitalization

Matthiaspaul, the manual of style is crystal clear. The word Photokina is capitalized on Wikipedia:

• Trademarks rendered without any capitals are always capitalized:
  • avoid: thirtysomething is a television show that could have been sponsored by adidas, but not by craigslist, because the show was over before craigslist existed.
  • instead, use: Thirtysomething is a television show that could have been sponsored by Adidas, but not by Craigslist, because the show was over before Craigslist existed.

Actually, it wasn't me who is doing the damage here. WP:MOSTM clearly states (highlighting by me):

"When deciding how to format a trademark, editors should choose among styles already in use (not invent new ones) and choose the style that most closely resembles standard English, regardless of the preference of the trademark owner."

Since there is only one official way to write "photokina", and that is in all-lowercase letters, enforcing any other form of capitalization is inventing new facts, something we must absolutely avoid in an encyclopedia - and this is one of our core rules, not a mere recommendation such as the Manual of Style, so it has much more weight in it.

So, please go to the offical photokina page and if you find a single occurance of "Photokina" on that page, you have convinced me, that it is okay to use that form as well. However, I already had a look myself and could not find any other writing than photokina. As it happens, I still have various printed documents and my photokina tickets from the Eighties, and it was already written "photokina" way back then. I don't know if they ever used a different capitalization further back in history, but at least in the past 30 years or so, they consistently used "photokina", nothing else.

You seem painfully oblivious to the existence of style guides. Huge numbers of publishers ignore this sort of self-aggrandizing typographical poppycock and just format proper nouns properly. The clean, professional way to render an all-lowercase trademark in text is to simply and unceremoniously restore its initial capital letter. You can safely dispose of your old Photokina souvenirs in the wastepaper basket, as they will not be needed to resolve this question. All that is needed is a quick look at WP:MOSTM where it is stated in sober, unflinching clarity that trademarks consisting of all lowercase letters be rendered unvaryingly on Wikipedia with a single initial capital letter.
