The link to Tomorrow, When the War Began is to the book. There is an article about the film, that the link should be to. Can anyone change this? Thanks for pointing this out, it's been fixed. Huntster (t @ c) 22:15, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Birth

[edit]

born july 22 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.60.238.70 (talkcontribs) 05:45, 30 April 2010

No, see the source. Born 12 July. Huntster (t @ c) 01:10, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Her birth date keeps changing. Before it was in October and then it was January 13 and now it's July 21. What is her real birthdate? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.55.170.113 (talk) 04:35, 14 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It only changes because people keep adding unsourced dates. The July 12 date is sourced, so unless additional, better sources come along, go with that. Huntster (t @ c) 05:14, 14 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Home & Away

[edit]

That source has come directly from the official Home and Away site, the caption says she will be guest starring in H&A soon. It's a legit and reliable source. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.72.242.55 (talk) 22:15, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Photo of Phoebe Tonkin

[edit]

Would it be possible to add a photo of phoebe Tonkin —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.230.79.43 (talk) 21:16, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia does not allow non-free images of living people, so if you can find a freely-licensed image of her, we can upload it (though I've yet to find one myself). Huntster (t @ c) 22:16, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Someone once told me we can take pictures from Flickr if there are no copyrights. So I found this one http://www.flickr.com/photos/48772730@N04/4583120991/ where it says "some rights reserved" and not "all rights reserved" but I don't know how to put it on Wikipedia. Is it ok? - Sofffie7 (talk) 22:47, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've checked that image, and the other images uploaded by that user on Flickr, and it appears all are copyright violations. In other words, there's no evidence that this uploader owns the rights to those images, and thus no evidence they have the right to freely license them. Particularly, the image you mentioned can be found on a multitude of other websites in much large sizes, so we cannot use it due to significant doubts about ownership. What URL and what game? I'm not certain what you are referring to. Huntster (t @ c) 19:43, 6 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Huntster this one: --Աշոտ1997 (talk) 06:53, 16 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Աշոտ1997: Ah, thank you. Well, it isn't a game, just a promotional website for the show. It does support some facts about Tonkin: on the page's main menu, click "Meet the Stars", and on the resulting page, click "Phoebe Tonkin as Cleo". It supports her full name and birth date. Personal life section

[edit]

Huntster, via WP:STiki, I saw this edit you made, which removed the Personal life section and left a hidden note telling editors not to add dating material to the article because it "is typically transient and non-notable, even if sourced." I'm not arguing for inclusion of this material, but I think it's a good idea to have a section on this talk page documenting why you are opposed to the material. So I'm asking you here why you are so against it, given that having a Personal life section (which typically includes dating information) in the articles of public figures is standard practice on Wikipedia; this goes for WP:Good and WP:Featured articles as well; I can point to examples. And while I realize that experienced Wikipedia editors often shun WP:Other stuff exists examples, even the Paul Wesley article, which was linked in the section you removed, currently has a Personal life section. I understand why you'd rather the dating material not be included, but I don't see how you can police the Phoebe Tonkin article in such a way, given that there is no WP:BLP policy or other policy against it. What WP:BLP does note is the use of poor sources; for example, the content you removed included the Daily Mail as a source, and that source has repeatedly been rejected at the WP:Reliable sources noticeboard and the WP:BLP noticeboard. Flyer22 (talk) 03:02, 21 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Flyer22, I do not watch the Paul Wesley article, so I wouldn't know what is there. Dating info is inherently non-notable because it is normally transient. I have no issue with a Personal life section existing, but it should only exist for the right reasons. As I've said before, if this dating resulted in marriage, then noting their history would be justified, but we're not at that point. My god, can you imagine what the articles of some celebs would look like if all their dating lives were noted? It would be utter fluff and filler, and would do a disservice to our readers. Huntster (t @ c) 07:06, 21 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Huntster, I would have replied soon after you WP:Pinged me (since I was on Wikipedia at that moment), but I was busy with other matters and didn't feel like reading your comment and replying at that time. Anyway, as for the content in question, I still don't see how you or anyone else can prohibit dating content being added to this article...unless it's a WP:BLP violation matter; this per what I stated above. Again, such content is common regarding the Wikipedia articles of public figures. With regard to dating, it's not like these sections usually include any and every person the public figure dated. These sections usually contain information about WP:Notable people; for example, if a celebrity dated another celebrity. And it's often that these relationships, whether transient (short-lived) or not, were high-profile or otherwise substantial and therefore should be (or should likely be) documented as a piece of that person's personal life in the Wikipedia article. Take the current state of the Gwyneth Paltrow article's Personal life section, for example; I don't see any of that as fluff or filler. All that stated, I'm not pressing for you to re-add what you removed in the case of the Phoebe Tonkin article. Again, I just felt that it's a good idea that this be discussed here at this talk page. On a side note: Since this article is currently on my WP:Watchlist, you don't have to WP:Ping me to this talk page. Flyer22 (talk) 16:11, 21 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Follow-up

[edit]

This issue has become a persistent problem at this article with people continually adding info on Tonkin dating Wesley. There are at least two sources that confirm this (and the first is "better quality" than the second):

  • Corriston, Michele (13 July 2015). "Vampire Diaries Star Paul Wesley Celebrates Girlfriend Phoebe Tonkin's Birthday". People. Retrieved 30 May 2016.
  • Blackwelder, Carson (26 September 2013). "Vampire Diaries' Paul Wesley Dating Former Co-Star Phoebe Tonkin — Report". Wetpaint. Retrieved 30 May 2016.

The second source establishes when they started dating (the first does implicitly, as well). The first establishes that they were still together in 2015, two years later.

I think it's time to throw in the towel on this, and add it to the article. I know that some editors feel that anything short of an engagement or a common law marriage shouldn't be included in these articles – but they're probably fighting the tide of editors who want this stuff in. As long as it can be properly sourced (and this can), and the "dating" has been going on for, say, at least a year, it's probably just better to include it in the article. So I am going to go ahead and boldly fix the recent re-addition of this info (i.e. remove it from the lede where it definitely doesn't belong!) and properly source it. FWIW. --IJBall (contribstalk) 15:51, 30 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It's only a losing battle if no one wants to deal with it anymore. I'm more than willing to continue excising it as it simply is not notable. Huntster (t @ c) 04:20, 31 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Phoebe Tonkin Accurate real height should be included on her wikipedia page which is shown below

[edit]

The Phoebe Tonkin Wikipedia page should include her height as an improvemennt so please could someone put it in. She is 5' 7¾" (1.72 m). This is accurate information and my source is http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2100081/bio?ref_=nm_ov_bio_sm. Also she is a very tiny bit shorter than Candice Accola in photos who is 1.73m so this proves the accuracy even more. Please could someone update and permanently put on Phoebe Tonkin's height of 5' 7¾" (1.72 m) for other fans out there to know her true accurate height. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Huhuhu99 (talkcontribs) 03:46, 2 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Two problems: 1) IMDb is not a Reliable source as per WP:RS/IMDb and WP:Citing IMDb; 2) the general consensus among editors at WP:FILMBIO articles is that height is essentially "trivia" and not relevant info to include in the WP:BLP of an actor (whereas this would likely not be the case if the subject were, say, a model). The second point could probably be overturned by a "local consensus" discussion at a particular article's Talk page. But the first point cannot – without a WP:RS to back up the bio info, it stays out. --IJBall (contribstalk) 04:13, 2 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Height of Phoebe Tonkin is important information that must be added...

[edit]

Phoebe Tonkin is a model and actress and as she is a model too her height is not trivia and very relevant information that is important and must be added.

Phoebe Tonkin's height is 5' 7¾" (1.72 m) and my sources are:

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2100081/bio?ref_=nm_ov_bio_sm http://healthyceleb.com/phoebe-tonkin-height-weight-body-statistics/13078 http://celebsweight.com/phoebe-tonkin-body-measurements-weight-height-bra-figure-size-age-more/

Also in many photos where Phoebe Tonkin stands next to Candice Accola she looks a very little bit shorter and Candice Accola is 1.73 so this further proves Phoebe Tonkin is 1.72. Here is my source http://68.media.tumblr.com/c40420c47f5a4345c9e94d1a87b145ac/tumblr_mvcj4gFNkt1r463m9o1_500.png (In this source Candice Accola (1.73) with trainers that are flat, and bending her legs looks taller than Phoebe Tonkin who is wearing very little heels so Phoebe Tonkin is shorter so 1.72. Are any one of these sites reliable — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thththththth6 (talkcontribs) 05:51, 2 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Nope. Also none of this addresses the other point I made above – that most editors feel that height is "trivia" in any case, even if it can be reliable sourced... But, usually, it can't. --IJBall (contribstalk) 05:54, 2 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

1.. Ok, I still think as Phoebe Tonkin is a model her height is not trivia but actually important information to add, I cant find a reliable source so hopefully someone else can.

2.. When you search a celebrities name an image and some short information like theri sibling, parent, height and partner come up that second on the right of the page. What is this called? Is this reliable iformation? Is the height reliable information? How is this made? Does this iformation come from wikiepdia or is it made elsewhere? If its made somewhere else then what website? Can I edit it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thththththth6 (talkcontribs) 06:03, 2 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Let me be blunt: no. Such measurements have no place here, because they are irrelevant. An argument can be made for athletes as it directly affects their careers, but not in this case. It is pure trivia. Huntster (t @ c) 08:48, 2 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Tonkin and season 5 of The Originals

[edit]

I have no idea exactly what this means, but, 1) writers are not producers or networks and cannot speak for (production aspects of) the show, and 2) Tonkin WAS MAIN CAST CREDITED in episode #5.1. So even if she never appears on the show again, she is still "main cast" for season #5. --IJBall (contribstalk) 14:49, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Personal

[edit]

Phoebe was dating her The Vampire Diaries Co-star Paul Wesley since 2013 and has finally split in March 2017 after being on and off for four and a half years. They described that their relationship just ran its course and both are on good terms with each other.<ref><ref>https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-4987156/Phoebe-Tonkin-Paul-Wesley-split-four-years.html — Preceding unsigned comment added by SajanKapri (talkcontribs) 05:30, 4 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:NOTGOSSIP. The dating lives of celebrities is not an encyclopedic concern. Engagements and marriages are worthy of reporting here, but anything less than that generally is not. --IJBall (contribstalk) 12:18, 4 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Phoebe Tonkin is also a health enthusiast as portrayed in her co-owned website known as YourZenLife. Luciriri (talk) 21:13, 31 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Should only be mentioned if it garners substantive coverage in independent reliable secondary sources. --IJBall (contribstalk) 21:16, 31 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
What is a "health enthusiast"? You CANNOT add these subjective interpretations of aspects of a person's life history to an encyclopedia article. Please read WP:SYNTH. This is not a fansite. - Julietdeltalima (talk) 21:54, 31 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

IMDb as a source with corroborations

[edit]

I’m aware that IMDb is not classed as a reliable source. However when information on IMDb matches up with information from Phoebe’s official social media, can we add it to the page?

Right now Phoebe is credited as a writer and director for a short movie on IMDb, within the last few weeks she’s made reference to filming something on Instagram and has used a hashtag with the name of the movie posted on IMDb more than once, are these things together enough to be considered accurate or is it better to wait for an official press release? Geels01 (talk) 00:39, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Geels01, Her social medias can be used however IMDB cannot and there is no leeway with this, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 00:44, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
And, as per WP:ABOUTSELF, her social media can only be used to source information about herself, not others... As to the last question – Yes, in general, it is better to wait for an official press release, or secondary source coverage, for anything that is not strictly about the article's WP:BLP subject. --IJBall (contribstalk) 01:41, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Jenni Kayne Campaign

[edit]

Calling the addition ‘made up’ is a little irking. I didn’t make it up, and the link I provided at the time lead to the videos and the articles included in the campaign. 81.109.22.31 (talk) 18:46, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't revert that, but I do think that material like this shouldn't be added to a WP:BLP unless it gets significant secondary source coverage, and it does not appear that this has. --IJBall (contribstalk) 19:14, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Podcasts

[edit]

What’s the issue with including a podcast she’s been cast in? It’s essentially the same as a radio play and is akin to voicing a character for an animation, she will be voicing a character and the source is reputable. Geels01 (talk) 20:42, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No problem with adding that to the prose, if it's a legit "scripted" podcast. I'm not sure it needs to be added to the "filmography" section, however. And I definitely oppose renaming that section to "Acting credits". --IJBall (contribstalk) 00:17, 25 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

My edit was reverted, why?

[edit]

I recently contributed to Phoebe Tonkin, adding information about her recent career, as the article was outdated. I referenced and sourced everything, only to have it reverted for "no sources" by User:Geraldo Perez. I clearly provided references if you look back at the edit I made, so was there anything wrong with my sources? Because, honestly I thought I did a pretty good job and was very confused as to why it got reverted, especially considering how I added new, recent, and up-to-date information to an outdated article.

References can be seen clearly in attempted edit that I have linked above.
