History of Philips

For those who are interested, a lot of the history of Philips was covered in the book 45 Years with Philips by Frederick Philips. DFH 18:29, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

I've got only a German source, but the Philips-Valvo-Röhrenwerke in Horneburg used forced work from the Neuengamme concentration camp from 1944 until 1945 (Valvo was as mentioned a subsidiary). I'd like to make the following changes to the History section:

• Philips was actually founded by Anton and Gerard Philips and should read @by Anton & Gerard Philips.
• The first products were carbon-filament lamps, not light bulbs.
• The Philips Light Tower in Eindhoven is two words, capitalized.
• Philips refers to their cassettes as Compact Audio Cassettes, not Compact Cassettes. This clarification eliminates confusion when referring to audio versus video cassettes.
• The first home video cassette was made available in England and I would like to replace "first home video cassette" with "first video cassette for home use, in England." Reference required

In general, it is OK to just edit and remove mistakes. Often it is appreciated when you add the source that you are using. Either in the text itself or in the summary of your edit. effeietsanders 17:13, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

• I'd like to make the following addition to the History section: "In 1927, Philips purchased C.H.F. Muller (a German x-ray tube manufacturer) which influenced the development of the first Philips product division: Medical system." There are no facts to confirm these statements:

• "The host of the first broadcast was Eddy Startz and from 1927 until he retired in 1969, Startz hosted a show called Happy Station (reportedly the world's longest-running shortwave radio programme, cancelled in 1995)."
• There are no facts to confirm the statement: "In 1927 they acquired the British electronic valve manufacturers Mullard and in 1932 the German tube manufacturer Valvo, both of which became subsidiaries."

missing info

1. What models of MRI Systems has Philips produced
2. When did these models go into production
3. When did these models end production
4. Do you have data sheets on these systems
5. What RF Amplifier was used on each model
6. What Gradient Amplifier was used on each model
7. What software was used on each model
8. What Field Changes were issued for each model
9. What are the changes that were made from NT, INTERA, ........

These questions are too detailed to be treated here. May be it could be included in Philips medical products. This article still has to be created. Some info that you ask for is, I suspect, company secret. Andries (talk) 09:51, 30 December 2012 (UTC)

Datasheets are available on incenter.medical.philips.com. You need a username to get to the index, but a google search with a site hook should get you what you want. Can somebody please help to create Philips Healthcare (formerly Philips Medical Systems). This seems to be the most important division. Together with Philips Lightning, they are the only two divisions that, I believe, are still important. Andries (talk) 17:16, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
