Revert to Philip Yeo

[edit]

Re: 99.231.83.202's revisions. All the references were removed, making for a very confusing read. Hence the undo.

Re: User:218.186.9.3's comments in User_talk:Rifleman_82 I've reverted because the line "... public anger due to ... insulting all the men of Singapore ..." needs a good citation. That he was expected to step down (who expected him to step down?) should also be properly sourced. The comparison between him and the blogger is trivial and borders on WP:OR. That he did not serve NS seems a trivial point unless it is expanded. WP:BIO needs to be adhered to. I'll revert it, and we and any other interested parties can talk about that here before including new information to the page. --Rifleman 82 15:36, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

We have to point out that he did not serve NS, yet insulted men who did NS (even though some they did complain). This was written in Straits Times, but unfortunately I can't remember the date. It caused a big scandal, yet ministers were unable or unwilling to do anything to him (e.g. force him to resign). Neither did Philip Yeo apologise. He claimed that he was wrongly quoted by the Straits Times, that he said "men who complain are wimps" when he was rightly quoted as saying "all men are wimps". Don't you think Philip Yeo can label "all men are wimps" and nothing happens to him, but a blogger got prosecuted for flaming him over that? I'll remove the last part, but I think it's important to point out that he didn't and women don't serve NS (the didn't have the experience and think NS is a trivial matter) and yet both insulted men who did NS. But please write down summary or in talk if you feel it is controversial. --218.186.9.3 12:08, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
A citation need not come from ST. I think it's a childish point to harp on, him labelling all men as wimps. Whether the "men of Singapore" were insulted or not, seems subjective too. If you want to edit, why don't you just state the facts, that he labelled all men as wimps, but leave out the conclusions, which stray into the region of WP:OR. --Rifleman 82 15:37, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Blog exchange

[edit]

Please do not include the blog exchange [1]. The identities of those involved cannot be verified, there are name-calling attacks, and the exchange is not notable. --Vsion 00:43, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
