Marino comparison

Was adding some news about his injury towards the end of the 2007 season when I noticed that there is no information about it. What happened to whoever went to all the trouble for 2006?

Rivers was never viewed as the best quarterback in the 2004 NFL Draft. Eli Manning was the consensus #1 pick. Rivers was viewed as the lesser of the big 3. And Pittsburgh selected 11th, not 8.

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. The existing article doesn't provide a source for the "best quarterback in a draft" claim, so I'll mark that as needing a citation. If you can provide a counterreference I'll add it. Thanks. Cleanup

I've done some substantial cleanup to the article, including removing the "College Stats & Accolades" section, which was a copyvio from the Chargers' website in the external links. Reputation section??

Yes, the section is already flagged for WP:FAN, WP:NPOV, and WP:PEACOCK among others. Feel free to take a stab at cleaning it up. However, saying that an article does or does not have something when others are the opposite is not always meaningful (WP:OTHERSTUFF). As long as its notable, factual and neutral, what other articles have might not be the most relevant. Bagumba (talk) 23:27, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

Notable Accomplishments section

Philip Rivers#Career_bests should be replaced by sections for "NFL season leader" and "Charger records". Consider that we wouldn't want an article on say a journeyman quarterback having an indiscriminate list on all their career bests. Bagumba (talk) 21:00, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

10 game record for passing yards

NFL Record for most passing yards through first 10 games of a season - 3,251 yds (2010)

The above is currently unsourced. While you can find sources like this, this one seems accurate that he didnt do it. 3,251 was Drew Brees' record in 2008. Rivers needed 308, but he only got 233. So there's some unreliable sources out there that he broke it (or even tied it). Deleting from article.—Bagumba (talk) 07:54, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
