Pre-NASCAR career

Is anyone aware of any pre-Winston Cup history for Phil? Nobody shows up at Daytona with no previous racing experience. 71.210.0.211 (talk) 06:28, 16 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Prior to his first ARCA race at Daytona in 1982, Barkdoll's previous racing experience was a season racing at the quarter-mile Vinton Speedway in Iowa in 1981. 120.146.76.12 (talk) 04:55, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Home state

I've always understood Phil to be a native of Phoenix, but the first reference suggests he is from Iowa, and moved to Phoenix before going Winston Cup racing. Another article from Midwest Racing Archives suggests the same, but it's possible that this was a move BACK to Arizona. Does anyone know more about Phil, and where he actually is from?
