Title needs to be changed
[edit]There needs to be a space between "phenyl" and "isocyanate" to be in line with IUPAC recommendations. Same is true with the infobox heading. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dilbert08 (talk • contribs) 04:24, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Dilbert08: Can you provide a source that shows this is what IUPAC recommends? Looking at Category:Isocyanates, I see that we currently aren't consistent with including a space or not when naming isocyanates. We should confirm which way is best and then title them all consistently. -- Ed (Edgar181) 11:49, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Edgar181: The official ruling is that the prefix "isocyanato" be used instead of adding "isocyanate" to the back end of the name. In this case, the name of the molecule would be isocyanatobenzene (the Preferred IUPAC Name) because there are no other functional groups that have priority over the isocyanate group. But, because this is a common molecule, "phenyl isocyanate" as a traditional name is accepted as well. Because of copyright, I can't upload a PDF of the 2013 IUPAC recommendations. This can be found, however, in section P-61.8 (Isocyanates) [1]

- Great, thanks. I have now moved the page so the title matches the text. -- Ed (Edgar181) 11:57, 2 April 2018 (UTC)
