FDA Approval
[edit]This drug now has FDA approval so this article needs updating. Aperseghin (talk) 15:11, 18 July 2012 (UTC)
I can not share truly scientific information as I am not qualified, but while on Topirimate to try to help my migraines, I experienced VERY dark thoughts. I had to get off of the substance pronto. Upon looking at some websites, I found that some others also reported a side effect of suicidality. I am concerned that if this diet drug becomes very popular, there may be an increased risk of suicides. 70.127.149.10 (talk) 02:26, 28 July 2012 (UTC) R. Kloper
- FYI, depression and suicidal thoughts are established side effects under topiramate and other antiepileptics. My information says 0.5% suicide related events (topiramate) versus 0.2% (placebo). Qsymia is prescription-only, so it's up to the doctors to monitor that. --ἀνυπόδητος (talk) 07:25, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
