New Sections in Article: I had went through and added certain headings with new sections like research done on the Phengodes Laticollis species, I had also added sections regarding the anatomy and behavior of the Phengodes Laticollis species. Under the sub-species genre, I left that as it is.

Article Review

[edit]

Great article! I made a few edits: I separated the "Behavior and Anatomy of Glowworms" heading into 2 sections to reflect more specific aspects of the respective paragraphs. I also added hyperlinks to important terms to provide context. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Amandayu19 (talkcontribs) 03:45, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Review for Behavioral Ecology

[edit]

Hello, I just finished reviewing your article. This is a very cool beetle! I made a few edits that I think will improve clarity: I modified quotation formatting, linked to other Wikipedia sources, corrected spelling, and switched up the ordering of paragraphs. Article Feedback

[edit]

I enjoyed reading this article about the Phenogodes laticollis! One interesting fact I took away is that their larvae are the largest animals that produce light. I appreciate how this article was detailed about the description of the beetle and provided a nice introduction section that outlined the article. This article also does a great job of including citations frequently and consistently throughout large paragraphs. Some areas that can be strengthened include more media and broader coverage by including information about other behavioral aspects of this beetle. Some areas that can be discussed include beetle-beetle interaction, beetle-larvae interaction, and beetle mating information. Additionally, topics such as habitat, food sources, and human interactions can be discussed. This article does a good job of providing detailed information about defense mechanisms against predators and their bioluminescence properties. However, it would help with the structure of the article by breaking up the large paragraphs about these two topics into smaller paragraphs. Furthermore, another improvement that can be made is using a more neutral tone. In some sections such as the one about Railroad-worm beetles, the prose is leaning towards discussing the pros/cons of the reference article rather than providing facts about the beetle.

Some edits I have made include:

  • Breaking up the large paragraphs in the Raildroad-worm beetles and the predator-prey relationship section.
  • Edited sentences in the railroad-worm beetles into a more neutral and objective tone.
  • Deleted “(Viviani and Bechara, 1993)” at the end of a sentence and used in-line citation feature to provide a reference.
  • Added hyperlinks to terms so that they are directed to other Wikipedia articles to increase integration of this article.
  • Edited the first paragraph of the Predator-prey relationship ship for clarification purposes by fixing grammar, varying sentence structures, and removing sentences that refer back to the source such as “According to the article…”. Instead, I added in-line citations that can reference it to the article which is already included in the reference list.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this informative piece. Justinxuje (talk) 12:49, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
