I thought it should be "Pettys Island" that's the misspelt version instead of "Petty's Island" (since the name of the namesake was "Petty"), but hey, past generations used to spell in weird ways... :) Resurgent insurgent00:20, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Whatever the vaunted intellectuals of the USGS may say, no one in South Jersey has ever referred to it as "Petty Island." It's always "Petty's Island." But hey, who cares?108.52.66.144 (talk) 22:12, 9 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
