1910 timetable and commentary

[edit]

This section appears to contain primary information and is not wikipedia-ish. I think it should be removed to a more appropriate place, maybe Wikisource. Nankai (talk) 00:09, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • I also agree that it is excessive and unbalances the article. I have therefore just removed the table with this edit. The content is still available in the Wikipiedia history logs if anyone wishes to recover it for use elsewhere. PeterEastern (talk) 05:46, 21 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Article needs to be checked and to have more citations

[edit]

The first services to the station apparently started in 1849, however the info-box says the station opened in 1850 and the article is currently inconsistent. Could someone with more knowledge check the history section and sort it out?

Also... I have reworked the text of the history section to a considerable extent and have tried not to change the factual content, but I am not knowledgeable on railway history and it would be good for someone to check it. The section also needs many more references. PeterEastern (talk) 06:17, 30 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Seems that originally the GNR used the ECR station in Peterborough, and the GNR Board only decided to have their own station in December 1849, so unless a Workington North was done, the station can't have opened any earlier than 1850 - and Butt says 7 August 1850. I've had a go at the relevant section. Still needs more refs; there will be plenty to pull from Waszak, but I have other things on my mind. --Redrose64 (talk) 15:20, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dubious neutrality

The Services section reads like an advert for Peterborough. 83.104.249.240 (talk) 02:02, 10 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Mobile layout issue

[edit]

Hello, I’ve been browsing the page today on my phone, and it has produced a very odd result, where the text for opening different categories is smooshed up to the left of the screen much higher than it should be, and pressing the options does nothing. I’ve looked at other station articles like the one for Cambridge, and this issue could not be replicated there.

Is there a particular issue with Peterborough’s article that causes this? Just thought I’d let people know, since I have no idea what’s causing it, but it is a bit of an impediment to usage on mobile Class444SWRail (talk) 07:09, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There is definitely something odd, I get the text for the section headings vertically down the side of the track diagram (iPhone SE2) Can't select anything to actually read the different sections. I've looked at the text and can't see anything unusual, I suspect it is an obscure typo somewhere that is upsetting the rendering of the page. Murgatroyd49 (talk) 07:40, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have my mobile selected to "Desktop" view, and if I try to edit the Peterborough station article, it converts it back to mobile view, which has never happened before, and other pages are fine for editing from desktop view. The joy of all things (talk) 09:26, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, doesn't do that on my tablet. I still think there is a rogue character somewhere but I haven't been able to find it. Murgatroyd49 (talk) 10:11, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have moved the line diagram templates into the history section - this seems to make them behave, but I can't see why there should have been a problem with them above the lead paragraph. Mertbiol (talk) 19:07, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As a side issue, does the page really need 3 separate templates? Surely the local Peterborough one is enough. Brings it into line with other station articles, eg Southampton Central Murgatroyd49 (talk) 09:23, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I wonder if this is relevant to the problem: Template talk:Routemap#Changes to BSsplit and BSto display Murgatroyd49 (talk) 14:40, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, just replying to this to say I have found one other page with the same issue (Hackney Downs). I’m assuming it is caused by the same thing Class444SWRail (talk) 22:28, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
