As can be verified in the HDS [1], Peter was the third son of Isaac, who was himself a citizen and politician of the independent Republic of Geneva. As the Republic of Geneva did not join Switzerland before 1815, and as Isaac died in 1755 and Peter in 1797, neither of them was ever Swiss (and Isaac’s bank in Geneva was not a « Swiss » bank!).
