I think the section on his leaving the show should be removed or altered

I don't see that there's a direct correlation to the incident where Adam got shocked and his departure. Adam only says the producer is no longer with the show. I can't find any other evidence linking the two events. G051051 (talk) 20:24, 9 August 2013 (UTC)

This article contains defamatory material

As has been pointed out by other's this article defames Peter Rees. He did not intentionally electrocute Adam Savage and in addition he did not leave the show shortly after the event. Changes were attempted that include links to the date of the incident and the date of the Rees' departure from the series. This material was extensively footnoted. These were changed back to the defamatory material within two weeks.

Additional material was added with respect to ratings for the series. All is factually accurate and footnoted. This material is also deleted. The post should read.

Peter Rees Born 1966 Nationality Australian American Occupation Television producer Known for MythBusters Peter Rees (producer) From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Peter Rees (born 1966)[citation needed] is a film and television writer/ director and producer. He created and developed the concept and was the executive producer of the television series MythBusters.[1] Rees created, cast and executive produced seventy episodes, and twelve specials. During his time as Executive Producer the series set all ratings records for individual episode 1.81 (M25-54), two hour special 2.2 (M25-54) and Shark Week Special. In Australia the show broke the one million viewer mark on SBS Television. The shows ratings steadily declined after his departure and are now 30% of what they once were.[2] Contrary to oblique statements made by Adam Savage[3], and previous posts on Wikipedia, Rees did not leave the show shortly after an incident on set involving electricity. The incident that Adam described happened during the filming of the Baghdad battery story in early 2005.[4] Rees left the series in September 2006, over a year and a half later. Video of the electrocution[5] undermines key aspects of Savage's story specifically; who was responsible for the final decision to shock him with an electric fence, and the claim that the film crew refused to film the aftermath in protest. It also illustrates that Jamie Hyneman had previously tried to electrocute Adam with the same device. This is not the first time that Savage's recall of events have been called into question. In 2008 he was forced to retract statements he made about the shooting of an RFID story for the show.[6] Prior to MythBusters, Peter created, developed, produced, wrote and directed more than 30 hours of factual programming for international broadcast. He has successfully brought a wide range of subjects to the small screen including the ancient practice of intentional cranial deformation and the discovery of the deadly “assassin caterpillar” of Brazil. Peter has worked in a wide variety of genres including: drama, magazine, reality, natural history, observational documentary, and studio based entertainment programming. He spent a decade in the United States including time at National Geographic Television, and Discovery Communications were he served as Senior Series Producer, Executive Producer, and finally East Coast Director of Development for Discovery Channel.[7] Peter circumnavigated the globe by land and sea to win the 1993 Charles Heidsieck international Travel challenge.[8] In 2006 he devised a successful World Record attempt. Programs he created have received a number of industry awards and honors including; the 2005 Silver Dragon from the Beijing International Science Festival and five Emmy nominations.[9] Peter was born on a Naval base in Death Valley California, but grew up in Sydney Australia. Since your COI edit request, the article has been edited and it no longer defames Peter Rees. (Also, YouTube, LinkedIn and Wikipedia itself - and possibly other sources mentioned in the collapsible section - are not reliable sources.) --82.136.210.153 (talk) 15:34, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

WP:BLP

I have deleted the statement connecting his departure with the shoch incident. Per WP:BLP unless extremely well sourced, it should be removed immediately. The cited source is useless: YouTube can't be used for this purpose and as the poster in a previous thread says there is no statement in the YouTube clip which makes a causal link between the two. Removal of the claim seems a reasonable action. In that video Savage refers to the then producer who has since left the show, but does not mention Rees by name. Even though it's likely that he was referring to Rees, since he was the producer at the time, we can't rely on circumstantial evidence. --AussieLegend (✉) 08:41, 2 May 2014 (UTC)
