Duke Charles of Finland?

[edit]

Duke Charles (Swedish: Hertig Karl), later king Charles IX of Sweden, was duke of Södermanland, Närke and Värmland. As far as I can determine the titular Duke of Finland between 1593 and 1601 would have been John, Duke of Östergötland, the younger brother of King Sigismund of Sweden though he was a child at the time with Finland being administered from the royal court. Also, Duke John never ruled the duchy in person since he in fact instead became Duke of Östergötland in 1606. I therefore suspect that "Duke Charles of Finland" in fact refers to Duke Charles of Södermanland.--Hovastro (talk) 08:40, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
