Lester Bangs' article on Laughner

[edit]

Lester Bangs' article on Peter Laughner is not exactly a 'eulogy', more of an angry rant about how self-destructive Laughner was. Anyone got a better word? Lexo 17:39, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That article is 404 now anyway. Meltingwax 08:47, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's a kind of requiem, although that's pretentious. It's a bit late to be an obituary and is mostly a despairing howl at the waste of life. I can't think of a better word. -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 18:25, 9 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You said it, I agree with the "despairing howl at waste of life" part. As for "that article is 404", hello...it is featured in Bangs' book regardless of whether it is online. In fact, I read it in Bangs' book years before the Internet was even invented. TheBlinkster (talk) 14:17, 25 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Lester Bangs didn't "worship" Lou Reed!

[edit]

see, for example, Wikipedia article Let Us Now Praise Famous Death Dwarves, https://www.theguardian.com/music/2011/nov/08/lou-reed-lester-bangs-interview, http://www.vulture.com/2013/10/lou-reed-vs-lester-bangs-a-retrospective.html Xelkman (talk) 11:27, 26 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No mention of Koolie release?

[edit]

This article fails to mention the 1982 Koolie album, "Peter Laughner", which is how many people (including me) first heard this guy's music and is now a fairly expensive collectors' item. I will see if I can find a source about it because I know the album was featured in the NE OH papers when it was released in 1981 or 1982. I also notice that much of the stuff about Laughner's record releases does not appear to be very well sourced. TheBlinkster (talk) 14:19, 25 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not going to do it - but...

That bit about him being rumored to replace Richard Lloyd in Television either needs to be deleted, or rechecked for sources - because if it is even partly true, it would have clearly been to replace Richard Hell, not Lloyd (seeing as how he died less than six months after Marquee Moon came out.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.224.73.221 (talk) 06:24, 11 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
