entry for M. Stuart Lynn under "Doctoral students"

[edit]

In the "Infobox scientist" data, up at the top of the article, I thought that it would be a good idea to note that one of Henrici's notable "Doctoral students" was M. Stuart Lynn.

Unfortunately, the article about M. Stuart Lynn does not exist, "yet" ("as of" mid March 2012), and I do not have time right now to create it. (Most of the time I would have to spend, would probably be devoted to learning how to create (for the very first time, on my own) a new article. I know, I could do it wrong, and others would help improve it later. But I just do not want my first time to be a disaster.

On the other hand, there is some clear evidence that M. Stuart Lynn is notable, as he was the editor of CACM from Jan. 1969 to March 1973. See this "source" page: : http://cacm.acm.org/magazines/2008/1/5484-the-battle-of-the-covers/fulltext (which was referenced on a "Talk:" page, here). It requires a password which not everyone has; (but some do); (I do); but that doesn't matter, because the first paragraph confirms the facts, and it is provided free for all.

That might prove to be helpful to the creator, if/when someone does eventually create an article about M. Stuart Lynn.

But meanwhile, here is what I am planning to do: just change the "entry" that mentions M. Stuart Lynn, to a red link (M. Stuart Lynn) instead of pointing to the (DAB) page Lynn, which (by the way) (see the above mentioned "diff") (labeled "here") no longer even contains an entry for M. Stuart Lynn -- apparently that can happen only once an article exists about that person.

I hope I am on the right track. If not, please (feel free to) give me a holler on my "Talk:" page. In fact, even if you do not see this "notice of intent" until AFTER I have already put a red link entry pointing to M. Stuart Lynn in to the "Doctoral students" field of the "Infobox scientist" data, up at the top of the article, it is still not too late. Whatever gets done on Wikipedia, can be tweaked later.

Any comments would be welcomed. Have a nice edit. --Mike Schwartz (talk) 20:33, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Phonetic spelling of the surname should be used. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A00:23C4:7C87:4F00:8C89:B7DF:F7B8:61C4 (talk) 16:29, 13 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
