Scientific American
[edit]I think he used to host early episodes of the PBS Series Scientific American Frontiers.
- No, it was the earlier Discover: The World of Science,[1], as now indicated and cited on the page.DougHill (talk) 03:10, 13 February 2019 (UTC)
The 1996 movie
[edit]Although it is widely rumored that Graves refused to play Phelps in the movie because of the changes made to the character, we need a reputable source to actually have this information on Wikipedia. Plus the use of the term "rape of the character" was completely an WP:NPOV violation so I have removed it. (Unless someone can provide a source that verifies that Graves actually said this.) I've also heard that he wasn't cast simply because he was too old for the part. But, again, we need a source. 68.146.47.196 13:21, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hi 68.146.47.196, One of Graves' former directors, Warren Chaney recited the same story when I was discussing Peter Graves with him. Chaney related that the film's producers had approached Graves and did offer him the role but he declined it for the reasons your writer stated. Given the Phelps character was portrayed by an actor near Graves' age, I would doubt the veracity of the "too old" rumor. Of course here is the problem - Chaney is a source but I am sure was never motivated to write about it. Even worse, I no longer know how to contact him. Reckon we were left where we started. Fair use rationale for Image:Petergraves.jpg
[edit]Image:Petergraves.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 20:03, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
Death
[edit]I added a sniplet of info that said that him and two other cast members of Airplane! all died the same year. It's not trivial it's a standard fact. Leslie Nielsen died a couple of days ago, Graves back in March and Barbara Billingsley in October. But what confused me was that it was removed as "OR and trivial". Rusted AutoParts (talk) 14:41 2 December 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry, but I see it as rather trivial as well. 3 actors that once appeared together in a movie died in the same year is mildly interesting, but not exactly in the same territory as Adams and Jefferson both kicking it on the 50th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Tarc (talk) 19:51, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
- Indeed: trivial. What you don't see, I think, is that many facts are entirely trivial. For instance, isn't it odd that Leslie Nielsen and Peter Graves both have first names consisting of two syllables, but Barbara Billingsley does not? Yes, that is not odd. And it wouldn't be much more remarkable if all of them had four-syllable first names. Now, if you find some printed reference that makes note of the fact that they all died in the same year, and states that this is indeed a remarkable coincidence, that's a different matter. Can you offer such a source? Drmies (talk) 20:38, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
Television credits
[edit]I was wondering, why haven't Peter Graves' extensive television credits been added? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.150.169.213 (talk) 08:36, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
Why haven't you? You had more than one and a half years to do so yourself, you lazy git. 94.219.79.198 (talk) 14:17, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
