Peter Townsend → Peter Townsend (disambiguation) – I believe that "Peter Townsend" should be a redirect to Pete Townshend, and "Pete Townsend" should be a redirect there as well. The guitarist's surname is often erroneously spelled, and the guitarist is by far the primary topic on the page, with 120,019 page views in the past month to 7,843 total for the other Peters combined.Hoops gza (talk) 02:34, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
Question- is there a precedent/guideline example for a misspelling to displace a natural disamb for 5x BLPs. Just asking In ictu oculi (talk) 03:35, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- Then Oppose per below In ictu oculi (talk) 01:40, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose - would be interesting to hear if there is precedent, but personally I don't think it would be correct to move this. You'd be trying to assess not whether Peter Townshend himself is more notable than all the others on the dab page, but whether that particular misspelling is overwhelmingly more notable. I don't think you can really determine that. Also if people do enter the misspelling then the link they require is right there in the "See Also" section so it's not a major problem. — Amakuru (talk) 12:29, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose, although the musician is undoubtedly PT for Pete Townshend it would be too presumptuous to redirect from a misspelling of his surname and a first name he is not usually referred by (despite being his birth name). Zarcadia (talk) 20:25, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- Question: But what about "Pete Townsend"?Hoops gza (talk) 22:21, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- Pete Townsend should redirect to the musician as all the people on the disambig page are called, or certainly have articles named, 'Peter'. Zarcadia (talk) 01:03, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
- Why? Does that make sense? Surely there's no more reason for Pete+mispelling to [mis]direct to the musician than Peter+mispelling. If one, then the other. In ictu oculi (talk) 01:40, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
- I think the reasoning is that Pete is known by Pete and not Peter. I hope that you are not arguing against Pete Townshend being the primary for a search of "Pete Townsend".Hoops gza (talk) 14:41, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
- No, of course not, just against Pete Smith redirecting to Pete Jones because someone might mispell someone more famous. That's all. Cheers In ictu oculi (talk) 21:37, 3 November 2012 (UTC)

- Oppose. The RAF officer (whose name was spelt Townsend) was pretty famous as well. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:23, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
