"It was discovered by a group of student researchers led by molecular biochemistry professor Scott Strobel as part of Yale's annual Rainforest Expedition and Laboratory." - No it wasnt, it was discovered by Spegazzini in 1880 vide IF or MB:

  • Pestalotia microspora Speg., Anal. Soc. cient. argent. 9: 31 (1880)

We don’t have a scientific source for its ability to dissolve plastics, only a secondary one. I might get on that later Calumapplepie (talk) 22:29, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
