[edit]It is stated that “The bloody campaign by Peruvian Maoist group Shining Path hit its peak in 1983” and “At the beginning of his presidency President Alan García demonstrated an interest in changing the counter-subversive strategy of his predecessor ” Are there any credible references to support these assertions? - Are you implying that "Peruvian Government = Bad guys", User:Bdean1963? I recomend you to read (I don't agree with it) the Peruvian CVR, and to realize the most barbaric acts of Sendero where commited in the 80's. Messhermit 02:11, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Pro-Sendero POV
[edit]This article is extremely biased. This entry should start as PRISON MUTINY and not PRISON MASSACRE, implying that the "inocent prisoners" were simply slaughtered for no particular reason. They were CAPURED TERRORSIST, murderer, that had kept Peru in a bloddy civil war for years, responsible for dozen of thousand of EXECUTION OF INNOCENT people (of their own kind). They took over innocent hostages and demanded the freeing of 500 convicted murderers like themselves. The military did their DUTY to end the mutiny and suppress the rebellion. Now these "fallen heroes" are celebrated by ultra-leftist organization in Peru. Shame on you, Wikipedia, for allowing such a bias, contributing for the division of the great people of Peru. Better to inform and tell the history as it was, to avoid future generations to embrace the same mistakes.MMMM
- Indeed the intro is very biased/POV as if the military went in an murdered a bunch of innocent people on Easter Sunday something, just because they were bored and wanted something to do.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.38.208.30 (talk • contribs) 15:11, 11 June 2010

Peruvian prison massacres → 1986 Prison riots – The current title of "Peruvian prison massacres" is a terrible POV term. Although I agree that the murder of unarmed prisoners was a massacre, the event took place as part of the 1986 prison riots. Perhaps another good title would be "Peru prison riots", but I don't think another notable prison riot took place in 1986. Moreover, other prison riots have taken place in Peru since then (So, "Peru prison riots" would probably best be a redirect to "Prison riots in Peru"). Relisted. - The proposed title should be 1986 prison riots per WP:NCCAPS. --BDD (talk) 23:47, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
- Suggest 1986 Peru prison uprisings and massacres. These weren't "riots" exactly, they were part of an organized campaign by the Shining Path. The proposed title sounds as if it was a general overview on Prison riots in 1986, worldwide. SnowFire (talk) 23:59, 2 October 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose not the only prison riots in 1986 -- 76.65.131.217 (talk) 04:40, 9 October 2013 (UTC)
- Move to 1986 Peruvian prison riots. -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:27, 11 October 2013 (UTC)
