- I personally think that this page should be moved to personal protective equipment as it is both a better description of the kind of items involved (IMHO) , and is also official terminology (in the UK at least.) Any suggestions/objections?--Pypex 17:10, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
- I agree; it's official in the US too. Making the move. --Spangineer[es] (háblame) 16:30, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
merger with protective suit
Protective clothing makes little mention of suits and clothing for the purpose of biological, chemical or nuclear clear up/handling which it logically should since suits are clothing. Since gloves, hearing protection etc are simply headings for links to other wikipedia articles which go into more detail, I think it would be more consistent to have a heading of "Protecive suits" or something with links to "NBC suit" and "Hazmat suit", and most of the information that is/was in protective suit is already present in "protective clothing".
however if there were a merger the information in "protective suit" about protection of nuclear and biohazard should be preserved, particularly the distinction between particle radiation and straight radiation limiting the use and design of some suits, thsi should be higher up somewhere in "suits" or maybe here in protective clothing, and not confined to NBC suit (where it is currently the only place it exists) which is why I made "protective suit" in the first place.
also as the author of Tag 26 where the design of the suit is of significant importance it would be good to have a proper distinction between Hazmat, biohazard and NBC suits, which wikipedia currently does not make. Fegor 00:55, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
- I merged from Protective Suit and Protective gear. Anthony Appleyard 08:36, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
Work Gloves
My company recently researched and published information on work gloves: the different types of materials, different cuff types, and sizing info. I think it would be a useful external link for the article. Work gloves are an important item of personal protective gear. http://www.coxhardware.com/Products/Work_Gloves_Info.html Please take a look. 72.74.241.2 03:04, 1 October 2006 (UTC)Sally Seaver Shabaka, Active Lightning 30 September 2006
- I combined the wikilinks "Particulate respirator (N95)" and "AirPowered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR)" since they link to the same article and section. dwboston 17:30, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
Industrial Shoes
Why is there a picture of clogs in this article? Seems completely unrelated to me. 70.75.214.214 (talk) 01:03, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
Steel-tipped shoes are compulsory in many industrial environments. There should be a section on the various kinds. Everybody got to be somewhere! (talk) 23:37, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
Merging Blunt Trauma PPE into this article
The article Blunt Trauma PPE appears redundant to this one. If no one objects, I will be performing a merge to redirect that article to this one. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 04:10, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
Some consistent content were added since then. All the aspects of a Blunt Trauma PPE (Protection, Mobility and Cooling) are very important to the users. I think this Blunt Trauma PPE article is too specific to be merged into the Personal Protective Equipment page. Shareitnow (talk) 14:53, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
Bullfighting & Comparison of motorcycle protective clothing
- Armadillo (cuirass), a bullfighter vest (CLG Pro Armadillo Armor[1])
In addition, perhaps a page called Comparison of motorcycle protective clothing may be made; manufacturers:

Lists
This article needs overhaul, since the sections seem to be all over the place. Perhaps some lists, namely with the part of PPE by hazard is needed. Could work on it if nobody else feels like it. JZNIOSH (talk) 16:35, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
Rewrote
Because of the need for the article to be rewritten, I rewrote it. All of the old content will be in the previous edition of my edits on 9/20/12. I will continually work on this article. JZNIOSH (talk) 18:06, 20 September 2012 (UTC)
- It's a start, for sure. We probably need different articles on sports equipment, historical and current military armor, and occupational PPE. History would be good, especially with statistics. --Wtshymanski (talk) 18:44, 20 September 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, I think the currently unwritten sports equipment article can be separated by sport, and have links to all the articles about sporting equipment. JZNIOSH (talk) 19:55, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

I think the following infographic might make a good addition to your PPE page https://www.firerescue1.com/Personal-Protective-Equipment-PPE/articles/153881018-Infographic-7-steps-to-clean-firefighting-turnout-gear/ Dirty turnout gear is dangerous - refer to this infographic to make sure yours is clean! Foot protection
Under the "Types" section, foot protection should also have an explanation versus only mentioning it in the intro paragraph. I suggest taking out the cop that regards to the foot protection and move in underneath the intro with "Foot protection" in bold. Gram99 (talk) 19:13, 16 May 2017 (UTC)

Standardization of personal protective equipment (PPE) refers to the process of establishing uniform requirements, specifications, and test methods for PPE to ensure that they provide adequate protection to users against potential hazards in their workplace or environment. This standardization process helps to ensure that PPE is reliable, safe, and effective in protecting workers from injury or illness.
Standardization of PPE involves the development of standards and guidelines by recognized organizations such as the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). These standards cover various aspects of PPE, such as design, construction, performance, labeling, and user instructions.
