[edit]I've removed the section that referred to the Shi'i and Sufi schools of Islam as "Persianisms" due to the complete inaccuracy of such an idea. Iran was not even Shi'i until the Safavid conquest 500 years ago, and Persian culture has NOT had an effect on the whole of Shi'ism. Interestingly, while Iranians have only become Shi'i relatively recently, Sunnism has had a wealth of contributions from Persians, and many of the most important thinkers of Sunni Islam, such as Imam Abu Hanifa and Imam Bukhari, have been Persians themselves. If anything, Sunnism, particularly the Hanafi madhab and those who recognize the contributions of Sahih Bukhari are more worthy of the title "Persianism" than are Shi'ah. This article seems to confuse "Persianism" (a feature connected with Persian, such as a word borrowed from Persian) with "Persianisation" (a process, such as turning something Persian-like). --Florian Blaschke (talk) 21:42, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
